The rehydration clause comes from Canelo or the IBF?

In March 2017, the IBF ordered the second weigh for Golovkin vs. Jacobs.

I believe that since the second weigh was canceled for unifications unless one of the two boxers desires.

This time it was the IBF or Canelo who ordered it?

Canelo. The IBF scrapped the rehydration clause.

The judges have also signed a clause agreeing to be rehydrated with Canelo's juice.

As long as Canelo also has the clause what is the issue?

It's Golden Boy. Danny has to pay $100,000 for every pound over 170 Saturday morning at 8AM. Jacobs said it was originally $250,000 but they negotiated it down. So lame.

It’s Canelo which is ironic because the IBF scrapped the 10 lb rehydration clause in unification fights for Canelo in the first GGG fight..

"for Canelo" ? Wasn't it Jacobs who decided not to weigh-in for the IBF when he fought GGG , and thus not challenge for the IBF title? I love how everything that happens gets spun against Canelo around here.

Back when Jacobs fought GGG he was heavily criticized for not doing the 10-lb IBF same day weigh-in which was standard. Jacobs decided not to do the IBF weigh-in vs GGG, then not too long after that the IBF decided to no longer require it for unification fights. Yet Jacobs won the IBF title vs Derevyanchenko where he participated in a same day weigh-in which are still required for non-unification bouts and he did not exceed 170 lbs.

So a rule that was standard when he fought GGG, which Jacobs refused to participate in, then he participates in it vs Derevyanchenko, but now all of a sudden Canelo is making unreasonable demands by agreeing to what that has been a known standard when fighting for the IBF belt ?

What makes this even more ironic is that for years posters on here have been acting like Canelo rehydrates more than any other fighter lol. So if Canelo's side did request the same day weigh-in, then the rumors of Canelo needing to drastically rehydrate are far from accurate.

Canelo. The IBF doesn't demand it for unification fights nowadays.

Not since Jacobs refused to participate in it vs GGG when it was required right ? Sounds like the IBF change its rules to accommodate Jacobs. A lot of fans complained when Jacobs refused that weigh-in for GGG. But now the same fans are complaining about it happening vs Canelo ?

Yes. After that fight the IBF changed their rules, because it became obvious that their champion would be at a disadvantage fighting another champion.

How obvious was it ? GGG was the champ and won despite being at a perceived weight disadvantage due to Jacobs refusing the IFB same day weigh-in.

Jacobs said recently in an interview that he came in too heavy for GGG and it resulted in him being sluggish. He talked about how in this camp he needs to eat and train smarter and not put on too much weight. Hearn made it clear that the same day weigh-weigh does not have anything to do with the belt being on the line. If either fighter comes in over 170 they are penalized financially but the IBF title will still be on the line.

Based on Jacobs statements it seems that he believes that he benefits in the ring from not over-rehydrating, so the idea that a same day weigh-in is an advantage for Canelo is more of a theory than anything else, since he also has been rumored to rehydrate a lot. The point is both fighters have been accused of rehydrating and putting on weight after the Friday weigh-in.

Quite obvious. A limitation for only one of the fighters is always a disadvantage. And the fact that Jacobs was unable to determine his optimal weight for that fight is his own (and his camp') problem. The decision to drop the rehydration clause for unification fights was not made for Jacobs but for all IBF champions later on.
