What Middleweight in history would you pick to stop prime Hagler?

Nobody. But if it ever could be done, Marv's chin would have to be bypassed. Fitz's precision solar plexus punch would give him the best shot at doing this. A dark horse might be Zale, with his combination of toughness, resilience and body punching. Of course Mubabe hammered his body as well, to no avail, but Fitz matured into a huge middleweight with heavyweight title winning power in his body attack, while the Beast was really a junior middeweight.

Nope, still no one gonna bump off Hagler. In the 9 years since this thread was last commented on, nothing has changed and no one has come along that can do it. Some might have thought Golovkin could have done it but he couldn’t even come close to KOing Canelo or Jacobs so I can’t see him doing it to Hagler. Let’s see in another 9 years.

None that I'd pick, but I'd give McClellan, Jackson, Ketchel and Fitsimmons a good shot

No one but Roy has the best chance with a huge flurry up against the ropes like Merqi Sosa

The only way I see Hagler being stopped is by a ref stoppage due to cuts. Monzon, SRR, and RJJ as possibilities for that sort of ending, but not a KO.

I can’t pick anyone with complete confidence. Fighters like Robinson would be 50/50, or maybe a little in either fighters favour

I never really even saw him hurt. I know folks claim Rd 1 vs Hearns but I’d like someone to actually show me exactly where.

He could be stopped on a cut but Ko’ed ? it’s a very long fluke shot type of thing if at all.

Hagler was supremely fit . The closest Hagler was to being stopped was the Hearns fight on cuts. And that's the only way Hagler would never see the final bell.
