    * Jai Opetia now ranked in top 15 by WBA , IBF and WBO.
Tim Tszyu now ranked 15 by IBF and WBA.
    * Daniel Lewis by all reports had a great training camp with Daniel Jacobs and
they rate him very highly in the states.
    * Demsey Mckean new opponent American Curtis Harper 13 - 6 9 ko.
    * Looks Jason Maloney WBA no 3 closer to his second world title shot. With Inoe fighting Rodriguez for the IBF Title the WBA may allow Jason to fight for the regular Title against no 1 37 yr old Venezuela Liborio Solis 29 - 5 -1 13 ko. No 2 is Gullermo Rigondeaux but he can no longer make 118 lbs.

Looking forward to seeing Fly Guy Jai do his thing on 15 May.

Tremendous effort from Daniel Lewis to be one of Daniel Jacobs principal sparring partners for the Canelo fight. That they kept him on for the full camp speaks volumes for his talent.

Sounds like a great opportunity for Jason Moloney coming up. He could beat his brother to a world title yet.

Hopefully Akkawy beats them all to one on Sunday.

Same guy. I saw his pro debut & was impressed. I wasn't the only one b/c Daniel Jacobs' camp brought him in as a sparring partner for the Canelo fight shortly thereafter. He's built like Canelo & I think was a smart pick-up by whoever in Jacobs' camp made that decision.

He can become a world class middleweight or junior middle if they feed him the right development fights. He's worth following.

I don't have any problem with your pick for this fight, but one thing I would disagree with is that the De Carolis fight defines Akkawy's level.

At the time, that fight was a massive step up for Akkawy. He was pushed hard in it & the scorecards didn't reflect how close the fight was.

The fight showed us where Akkawy was at the time in that he got hit far too much & didn't fight at a world class pace. His fight tempo wasn't high enough.

I think that was the kind of development fight though that would have benefited Akkawy enormously. With that one under his belt, he was well placed to take a few steps forward in his career.

Enough steps forward to win a world title? I'm not sure. We'll see tomorrow.

He's also had a few fights since & has been working with Canelo's team since then so I think there's every reason to be optimistic about Akkawy's chances tomorrow.

We lost our last tenuous claim to a world boxing title last weekend when TJ Doheny was beaten so it's a great opportunity for Akkawy to win & get some mainstream media coverage for boxing in this country. A world boxing champion from Western Sydney would be good for Australian boxing. Doesn't matter if it's a second-tier version of a WBA title. We'll take it.

Plus Golden Boy owe us one from the Mexican Mungo v Dennis Hogan debacle. They get Akkawy over the line in this one & we're square.

Danny Jacobs speaks highly of Daniel Lewis and talks fondly of his time in Sydney and training with Garth Woods.

A couple of great interviews there. Daniel Jacobs is very well spoken & gave high praise to Daniel Lewis. As I said above, I think bringing young Daniel in as a sparring partner for World Champ Daniel was a smart move.

Interesting that Daniel Lewis has signed with Top Rank after one pro fight. That's another group of decent judges who obviously think he's got some talent. Fighting on undercards in America & plenty of heavy sparring sessions behind closed doors will be his path up the ranks.

Just needs to be wary that they are looking after him and not using him up for the benefit of their other fighters. It's a tough road to the top over there & if you're not American, you're unlikely to be done too many favours.

Damn another Aussie exposed when he steps up. That’s what happens when you pad your record against weak opposition. Akkaway looked clueless in there with Ryder who is hardly world class.

Ryder is world class, IMO. He's gotten the shaft big time. He won the Arnfield match and clearly, even the Brit commentators were shocked by the result, he beat Fielding, he was unsure of himself at first, since it was his first match at SMW, but he came on and dominated half the fight. His only legit losses were against Blackweell which was a fluke, IIRC, he had trouble making the weight, and as far as BJS goes, that was the closest match Saunders has ever had.

So while yeah, it was way too much, way too soon for Bilal, who's overrated, Ryder is no pushover, he's a top SMW at this point.

Fair enough, but there were some Aussie media outlets making out that Akkaway was a future world champion and that he would KO Ryder. They were going on about Akkaway being a big puncher but his high KO ratio is deceiving against total cans.

Don't think too many on here had Akkawy up near the top of any Australian boxing P4P lists.

Happy to see him get the opportunity to take a quantum leap forward in his career but getting stopped inside 3 is a disappointing result.

Haven't seen the fight so can't comment beyond that.

Akkaway would probably lose to fellow Aussies like Rohan Murdoch

    Hi Pal
What do you think of the latest development ?
Tim Tszyu is in discussion to meet Zab Judah ?
Tsyzu hopes the fight will be in Sydney and Judah returns to the ring in June.
