    Any recognisable LHW.

It would have been better than killing himself to make SMW, in order to fight the Salem's and Pudwell's of the world.

He was certainly very awkward to fight.

I think very highly of Joe Calzaghe - He was the best ever in the 168th lb class - he had hand troubles but could punch when he wanted to, Remeber he was also in his mid-30's when he moved up to lightheavy and beat B-Hop and Jones

B-Hop faked a foul 2x to try and stop Joes momentum and he could have stopped Jones but showed a kind side taking his foot off the gas after Jones was cut

Eubanks victory when young, dropping Chris with a huge left hand-his domanance of the dangerous LeftHook Lacey and his Big win against the undefeated Kessler showed a unique skill and born gifts

Calzaghes energy level, ring smarts & natural ability and hand speed lock him him as the best at 168 and remember Enzo never trained a fighter before but cant argue with the results

Love Calzaghe. Rate him very highly. Probably as close to Greb as we will see in terms of style (or what I imagine his style to have been).

    I did like it.

I enjoyed watching him, because of the way he switched styles, more than his level of activity.

What held him back was his hands.

Some of the gym rats that I have spoken to, are amazed that he held on to his boxing licence up to the point that he retired.

He had to pick his fights carefully, but I remember picking up the issue of Ring Magazine, where he was champion in two weight classes!

Roy Jones was the greatest SMW we've ever seen.

No, we didn't see a kind side to Joe regarding his fight with Roy in 2008.

What we saw was a vulture.

    I explained my reasons.

I thought he was ugly, sloppy and boring to watch. I still thought he was a top fighter but not to my taste.

I couldn’t give a stuff about him being defeated or undefeated. I’m not one of you types who gets all hung up on whether a fighter has an 0 in his record or not. Better fighters than Calzaghe and even Mayweather have lost fights you know. Probably because they tested their mettle more stringently than your hero did.

relatively poor punch technique but it worked for him because he had huge tank and always kept his opposition below world class 95% of the time.

People aremissing the point -they tend to dislike his character more, the marital abuse, after all they dislike mayweather for it. Same thing.

Noone noticed his character until he was nearly finished, largely because he was unnoticed his whole SMW career anyway until a year before he was about to abandon it.

But once the abuse came out in the limelight, of course noone is going to like a man who commits marital abuse, apart from perhaps other abusers.

Its a matter of opinion, Jones was great no doubt and so was Greb at that weight and others- I like many things about Calzage-good chin, great hand speed, good movement and heart and confidence...I rate him as one of the best fighters in recent years & top tier 168lber

Roy had more speed, more variation, more power, more accuracy and a better defence.

He was just a better fighter in his prime.

Joe was also a great fighter. The one thing that he lacked though was belief. You've noted confidence. But that was his one weakness.

Joe could slip punches while coming forwards, Jones struggle doing that, sometimes he would throw a lead punch and roll out of te way really fast, but he would often hesitate, Joe would stand in front of a fighter and slip his shots while countering, I feel Calzaghe landed more shots during his entire career than Jones did.

In all honesty besides the footwork his style reminds me of the slap boxing matches we used to do in middle school and jr high school befor such things were practically considered a crime lol
