He looked devastating in there...Given it was an aging Herrera but still...What he did to him was unheard of. Blazing speed, brutal power and pinpoint precision; he dissected him like a surgeon...Thoughts?

He looked good but herrera isnt good nor has he ever been. With that said he's still young and he looks to be promising i wish him the best.

Indeed Herrera is no world beater, especially at this stage of his career...But stil,l he has'nt been stopped and Ortiz sliced him like a hot knife through butter.

Ortiz said he's sick of Spence facing career 140 pounder featherfists who can't punch their way through wet cobwebs, blown up 135 pounders fighting in the 5th weight class, and one-eyed weight-drained damaged goods cadavers and that he wants to put Spence's soon to be exposed glass whiskers to the test against a legit banger with a KO 100% and who has two good eyes and wasn't dragged out of a morgue, not puny undersized 140 pounders who only sport KO 31% and KO 41% down at their natural weight class. He didn't outright say this but if you read between the lines he was clearly implying as much.

Ortiz is the goods, man. I absolutely love watching him fight. He's a huge, strong WW and he just turned 21. The kid can really crack, the power in his right hand is scary, he throws clean, crisp shots and doesn't over punch. Nice jab, nice footwork, he's patient and measured and just a pleasure to watch. It's only a matter of time until he puts it on one of the big boys at Welter.

My only nagging concerns with him are, while admittedly circumstantial, twofold and feed into each other:

    1. He was on record saying "boxing is easy" for him...
    2. He is a training buddy of Mikey G.

Now, why does the confluence of these factors potentially spell trouble for his future, IMO? Well, if he isn't all-in to begin with (and you need your full heart in the game to become a Great, or even just world class, and certainly to maximize your potential) and he is susceptible to influence from someone he respects and looks up to like Mikey, who also has been vocal for years about how boxing is just a job, that he isn't exactly crazy or passionate about it, doesn't watch fights for entertainment, etc. - well, we might see his efforts taper off before he's able to "level up" and hit his stride against top competition...and if he falls into a rut just beating up outmatched opponents and growing bored there might come a day where he does step up in class and/or weight and just take a beating his previous lack of challenges have left him unready for, the way Mikey did against Spence.

I think Ennis would have done the same thing to Herrera, probably quicker.

They are the same age. I'd love to see them fight but it would be a monumentally stupid gamble on the part of either team if they did.

    I'd pick VOJ.
