Does the fast and awkward Spinks outpoint the plodding Bowe, or does the bigger man impose himself on the fragile Spinks and grind out a stoppage? Some videos for food for thought. This content is protected This content is protected
I can see that happening. Holmes nearly knocked Spinks out in the last round of their rematch, and was catching him with right hands throughout the contest. Bowe wasn't a huge puncher, but he was a bit more heavy handed than Holmes I'd say, and a more relentless finisher. I can also see Spinks befuddling Bowe with his herky jerky spasmodic movements and quick flurries. Spinks was a really awkward customer.
Bowe's the favorite but Spinks was a spirited awkward customer for everyone except Iron Mike. Against Bowe, Michael's style and gameness would cause problems for the big man and he'd have some success, but he might not hit hard enough to really hurt Bowe imo. Riddick's size and weight of punch likely gets him the win late in the end or on a points verdict.
Would be a longer version of Bowe v Hide imo .Spinks connecting with shots and lookin good doing so .But Riddicks greater fire power and brute strengh connect and drop him to the canvas .Bowe ,.Maybe a little behind on the cards time of the stoppage .
I disagree,Ferguson. It will be a shorter version of Bowe vs Hide, not longer. Hide will never be anywhere as highly regarded as Spinks, achievement and career wise but as a heavyweight, he was faster than Spinks both in handspeed and certainly in foot speed. He werent called the dancing destroyer because he was a lumbering oaf like Willard, Carnera or Bruno. Spinks wouldn’t have the same fast feet to keep Bowe away for as long as Hide did. Plus Hide had a underrated heavier dig on him that stopped Bowe from been totally reckless, that Spinks lacked.
Good matchup. Bowe wasn't exactly a great out-boxer. Spinks did quite well against Holmes who's known for his atg jab. He was very unorthodox with his movement and he could definitely outbox Bowe. I can see Spinks outboxing Bowe and Bowe stopping him. I'd lean towards Bowe because he was massive and carried serious power. But it won't be one sided.
Spinks before his knees were shot would outpoint Bowe unless Bowe came in top shape, which he rarely did. Bowe would need to come in under 230 lbs, since otherwise I see Bowe struggling to land clean while Spinks racks up the points and gets the decision.
I lean towards Spinks but Bowe might catch him and if he did he would stop him easily, Bowe`s reach would be a big problem his jab would bother Spinks, but Bowe often threw away his reach advantage to throw hooks and uppercuts inside, when he would do this Spinks would use his high guard and counter well, one way or the other Spinks will be ahead by the time the fight ends.
