They fought more than once and despite being much larger Beterbiev had Usyk hurt with a bodyshot.

I only slightly favored Kovalev over Beterbiev before being on the slide. Now it's Beterbiev for me all the way.
I have Kova at the bottom of the 4 LHW beltholders at the moment, and that's me as a fan.

I agree, Kov needs to be prime to deal with Beterbiev, right now I don't know where he really is at Kov, and Beterbiev is strong and relentless. This could be Kov looking good early doors THEN the tide turns dramatically !

Have you ever boxed? Just because someone is slightly smaller, doesn't mean they can't hurt the other guy.
And Beterbiev is a known puncher.

AFAIA, Beterbiev is 1-2 against Usyk in the ams. He beat Usyk 12-10 in 2007 down at 81kg (LHW) which is the weight Beterbiev was best at and Usyk beat him by a scoreline of 17-13 in 2011 and by the same scoreline again in 2012, both times up at 91kg (HW) which was Usyk's best weight and both those fights were very competitive indeed.

Q: Oleksandr, you won most everything as an amateur, including the gold at the 2012 Olympics. Who would you say gave you your hardest fight as an amateur?

Oleksandr Usyk: “Well, all those fights, they all took place within the last couple of years or so, so it’s hard to say. Maybe, if I was pushed to say, it was Artur Beterbiev of Russia who gave me my roughest fight. He is very aggressive and he does hit very hard.”

There was no humiliation as the title of this thread implies. Usyk does what he always does. Outboxes very good boxers. It was close but clear for Usyk. Usyk was buzzed in the 2nd round at the 6:35 mark but less than a minute later, comes back to hurt Beterbiev with some body shots. Good fight.

    1. Usyk is in a class all by himself.
    2. Kovalev ain't as sturdy as Usyk (this is beyond proven)
    3. Kovalev is very likely on the slide and would be susceptible to Beterbiev's pressure and workrate.

I say this as someone who thought very highly of Kovalev (I even had him in the top 2-3 p4p), Beterbiev will walk through him at this point.

I had Beterbiev beating Usyk in one of those fights, and they were both close. Usyk is a heavyweight and Beterbiev bullied him. Don’t even talk about Kovalev against him at this point, if he couldn’t take Ward’s physicality then what would Beterbiev do to him? I favoured Beterbiev when Kovalev was prime, right now it’s not even a valid fight imo.
