You're not the only one!!! Tua never won an important fight....yet...he beats Dempsey...Louis...Marciano...etc!!! Don't think so...
You're argument is getting more nonsensical by the post. Apparently Jeffries was never measured (because you say so), but Bob Fitzsimmons knew his height so we can trust that, but not the heights Bob Fitzsimmons said because he can't be trusted. If you doubt things actually do some research, look at various sources say, see where the best sources converge, than than speculating off of boxrec.
I don't .Anyway it seems we aren't going to get a definitive height for Jeffries and its probably not important,as far as how this fight goes.On balance, if I had to choose I'd plump for Jeffries, but I wouldn't wager a penny on the outcome.
No one has to be lying I am a shade under 6ft most of the time but when I have been measured by different people on different setups there is been a 3 inch swing...my most reliable measurement IMO was from a tall doctor doing a height and weight on a wall mounted scale he had measured out....most of the time I am asked my height or hastily measured by someone who was just checking a block......Fitz could be repeating what he heard not witnessed more than likely The problem IMO are we only have writing and we can pick and choose from an era of writing style where hyperbole was how they infused excitement into their stories for readers buying their papers...,there was not the ability to compare the descriptions of superhuman events with YouTube and if you haven't been to many fights or real sporting events trust me when I say T.V. is better for watching the event....the energy of a live event is great but tough to see the action.....
Will you please point out where I ever made the statement that Jeffries was never measured? You have willfully misinterpreted and misquoted my remark about Fitzsimmons too. I've said we do not have a definitive height for Jeffries and it probably does not matter. What's wrong with that statement? You posted this. "If you count exhibitions it looks about right". I responded I dont count exhibitions as fights. You then responded with. "It doesn't matter what you count, it matters what he counts to if he was lying or not." And you're labelling me nonsensical? Who are you? Rent an argument? I could post 4 different heights from 4 different sources for Jeffries ,6 't,6'1 .5",6'2" ,6' 2.5" . From such diverse places as The Library Of Congress ,Jim Jeffries,InThe Ring And Out ,CBZ ,Wikipedia,Revolv, etc which one would be the correct one? I'm not an expert on Jeffries or any other fighter, but I'll match my knowledge and information about him with you any day ,and twice on Sundays! You're acting like I have personally insulted you. Do us both a favour, put me on ignore ,I've just come here for some recreation, and don't need some jumped up ---- getting on my case, because he has a problem disseminating others posts. Fitzsimmons claimed he was drugged to lose the first Jeffries fight do you believe that? Fitz claimed he began boxing in bareknuckle fights at the age of 15. Is this true? The first recorded fight I have for Fitzsimmons is in1882 a ko win over Tom Baines. This makes him 20 the day depending on whether his DOB is Jun4th1862 or June14th of that year. In 1899 his birth certificate was found, this has him listed as being born on May26th 1863 which means his first recorded fight was when he was 19years old ,not 15 as he claimed.Point being Fitzsimmons , like many was sometimes hazy with facts. ps. Don't forget that ignore!
While I would pick Lewis, it is only speculation....the facts are what the facts are. Tua didn’t perform on the biggest stage, Rocky on the other hand did...shoot, I am not even a Rocky supporter other than the fact he gets crapped on, on this forum.
I'll take the modern fighte who had 80 fights against a who's who of the toughest of a tough era, over the guy with 20 fights against tiny guys and mediocrities. Earnie all day and all night.
I totally agree that Rocky performed at the highest stage of his era. However, the talent in the heavyweight division in that era was completely different that what Tua faced. Tua had a much higher bar to clear for the title.
