I'm interested in Hughie and will follow his career with interest as I have since he turned pro. He is a good boxer, and I'm a boxing fan.

You are interested in a fighter with a style so dull that he turns casuals off boxing.

There needs to be a certain amount of honesty in how a fighter throws punches. When Hughie faced Parker there was no purpose or honest intent to any of his punches. This meant you couldn’t score anything he was throwing as scoring punches and had to favour the aggressor, who wanted to make a show of it.

Yes he has good feet and moves well. But this isn’t ballet mate. The lack of performance against Pulev proved again that Hughie isn’t very good.

Yes he can run away and not get knocked out, perhaps stealing an unfair decision. But no one in the current boxing scene wants that kind of style. Look at the top 2 at HW now- both knockout artists and known for big punching and putting on a show.

There's easing backing in though and then there's this.

I swear the heavyweight division seems determined to foist the biggest mismatches it can upon fans in 2019.

Hennessy may have pulled out all the stops to get Parker to the UK, but in Parker's other fights over here he's been at the O2 which looked full and at the Millennium Stadium which had over 70,000 in it. How many people watched the fight at Manchester Arena or bought the YouTube PPV?

The point I'm making here isn't just a numbers game. It's that Hennessy's job is to promote Hughie Fury. He literally is a promoter, promoting a guy who, after twenty-odd fights and a world title shot, is someone nobody knows about, is deeply inactive, and fights nobodies in front of disinterested, tiny crowds. I'm not sure staying loyal to a guy who couldn't even get a TV deal for Carl Froch is a good move.

I think we are talking at cross purposes here. I'm not saying Hennessy is the equal in promotional power of Hearn or Warren for that matter. I'm not saying that staying with him is going to deliver the most money.

I'm saying that by not making all their decisions on what will give them the most money, in feeling a sense of loyalty to someone that they've been working with for a long time, a friend as well as a colleague, Hughie and his dad are acting in a manner that I personally value highly.

This is a cynical mismatch, Norrad has no defence ,stands up right like lampost and can't punch with authority.Total rubbish!

You don't get much for a trillion dollars these days but even still this is a sad indictment of US defence spending.

I think this show is more about Mick getting back on Channel 5 domestically than everything else- a Fury KO will look good on that front. Norrad does look terrible on tape however.

There is Savannah Marshall on this card as well as a central area title fight so it shouldn’t be too bad to watch.

Are you seriously trying to tell me why I shouldn't like watching Hughie Fury, when I have already stated quite clearly that I do like watching Hughie Fury.

Obviously I don't find him dull to watch as you and the causals do. Losing to Pulev and Parker on points does not make someone a bad fighter. He has to make some changes for sure, but he has all the ability in the world and at 24, time to make changes.

Why is it these days that if someone isn't the best of the best, or elite level, they're deemed unworthy of credit. If I thought like that I would only watch 10 fights a year max, and that isn't nearly enough for me.

Look at the top 2 heavyweights? what AJ and Tyson Fury? I wouldn't exactly call Tyson Fury a knockout artist. You sound like my Dad, a casual fan who only wants to see knockouts.

Well they’ll still keep rolling him out, but we all know he’ll not progress far.
No punch and no great strength, if he wasn’t called Fury he would hardly be rated at all.

Not finding Hughie exciting watching doesn't make you a casual .To the contrary ,I'd say it shows you are a discerning fan of the sport.
