Mitchell was not a flash knock down..........JC damn near done a 360 off the punch. He got up quick was definately buzzed.
The shot that Mitchell hit Calzaghe with was brutal, and would have ended a lot of fighters. For a brief second when he first went down Joe looked totally gone. It shows that he has exceptional powers of recovery that within a few seconds he was able to get back up and fight on, and force the stoppage in that same round. I do, however, think that if Joe was caught by that shot now he probably wouldn't get up from it, or at least wouldn't be on steady legs. I don't think his punch resistance is what it was, but it will still be good enough to see him through against RJJ.
I can remember during the Hopkins fight, Max Kellerman talking about the Eubank fight where Joe was supposedly downed... I didn't watched the fight and I believed the man. That was the last time though.
they both knocked each other down once, weith the ref stopping the fight and awarding joe a british stoppage when mitchell slipped, just after joe motioned the ref to stop it, it was too high risk to continue. so yes three. or four if u include shot roy jones, but that was really an exhibition bout.
How’d that fight turn out again?? I think Hopkins did too as well before eventually losing and having to resort to fake foul acting didn’t he?
