Which of these men would you favor against George Foreman, prime for prime, with every man giving his best possible performance that night? Pick as many (or as few) as apply. Not trying to stir debate. I just want to get everyone's votes on the record.
Ali only. Holmes and Tyson have a slight chance, and even less Liston. Lewis and the Klits not enough dog. And Marciano and Dempsey no chance.
Surprised you didn't put Louis, I'd favor him over Foreman I think Foreman vs Holmes and Marciano is a 50/50 (though I lean towards Marciano), and I favor Ali over Foreman
I favor Ali for obvious reasons, Marciano toughs it out. I think Foreman tires out against Marciano, which leads to a ko similar to the Rumble in the Jungle. I don't know if I would favor Holmes over Foreman, I think Foreman can ko him. I think Foreman and Dempsey are 50/50, honestly they'd just trade until one goes down. Foreman is the stronger puncher, but Dempsey is the more ferocious fighter. It would be an amazing match.
I don't favor a single man that ever lived in a toe to toe slugfest against a prime foreman, but I would favor a great technician with a good chin like Ali, Holmes, Lewis and vitali, less certain about vitali but he did have a good jab and iron chin. Lennox might end up going down too if he gets caught and I wouldn't give any chance at all for Dempsey or Marciano, Tyson would have to pull a Morrison to beat George which I'm sure he could have done but not sure that he would. Foreman was a freak of nature, plain and simple.
Why all the Frazier neglect? He belongs here more than Dempsey yet he is not included in these lists...not that I would pick him to beat Foreman lol but he belongs in these lists....ditto for Holyfield.
Joe Louis too. Joe would have outlasted and boxed George. Though now that I think about it Louis might have gotten knocked down during.
I want to believe a Frazier even two years younger would have beaten George... Especially given that would have been the FOTC Joe.
Good call,,, those are the only two I'd make favorites over George . Liston is a possibility if George can't get rid of Sonny inside 3 but I wouldn't want to bet on it.
How would Dempsey and Marciano get inside before Foreman lands his bombs like he did v the short armed Frazier, Cus D`Amato once told M.Tyson it was suicide for a shorter armed fighter like Frazier to come forwards v Foreman.
