Worth noting again that when Froch was Saunders age, he hadn't yet won a world title. Saunders going for his second in a second weight class, albeit against a poor opponent.

As much as it's worth noting that BJS has faced absolutely nobody on Froch's level and probably never will. I like BJS as a fighter but he's wasted his career. He won't fight on to the age Froch did, no way!

Saunders' resume is light years ahead of Froch's at the same stage of their careers, so how can you say that?

Saunders has taken little punishment in his career so I'm sure he has plenty of great years ahead of him. What helped Froch fight so many top fighters was entering a stacked super six. Hopefully Saunders gets the chance one day to do the same.

The ignorance in this thread is unbelievable. Lets just ignore the fact that at 29, Saunders has done a lot more in the sport than Froch had. And put the bloody crystal balls away because none of you know who Saunders will fight in the future, nor how long he will fight for. Appears to be only finding his stride now with training etc.

True - Saunders may end up being the late developer Froch was and fight the absolute best the super middleweight division has to offer. But nobody in their right mind would think this will actually happen in all likelihood.

He's a drug cheat scrote who has wasted his career.

Late developer? What are you on about Tony? He won a world championship four years ago and already proved to be levels above world class. He's unbeaten.

All Billy has to do is stay in shape. Bizarre comments.

I'm saying Froch was a late developer. Turned pro when he was 24, first world title fight at 31.

The point is that from that point his career was unreal. Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward, Bute, Mack, Kessler II, Groves, Groves II was unreal; Mack the only gimme. The rest a who's who of the best at the weight during those six years.

Now, I'm not saying I know a guy like Saunders won't do that. But to repeat an oft-said point, he's an inactive, small, blows up in weight between fights, feather-fisted, drug cheat. So I reckon he probably won't.

You were suggesting Saunders needed to develop late to achieve the greatness Froch did. That's not true. Saunders has the ability to do it, he's proved that already. He just needs to keep fit and active and get the right fights.

FWIW I don't believe Saunders will stack his resume with as many names as Froch did. However, I wouldn't bet against him putting several names on his resume on par or surpassing some of those on Froch's. Andrade, Jacobs, Golovkin, Canelo, Calum Smith all around the two divisions. I don't see why Saunders can't fight a few of them over the next few years.

Besides all that, the thread wasn't about who will go down as the greater fighter. It's a h2h thread and for me, Saunders wins as I've said. I just had to catch a few people on, who neglected the fact Saunders has achieved more than Froch at this stage of their careers.

BJS probably out boxes Froch for most the first six rounds but eventually gets stopped by the cobra, billys chin is untested at world level because the only puncher he has fought couldn't lay a finger on him. He hasn't faced one world class opponent yet he's considered one of Britain's best p4p fighters, it's a joke tbh.

Seems most are in agreement that Froch would stop him late. Prime for prime a fight I would have loved to see.

No, I wasn't saying that. I was saying Froch developed late and Saunders' career would need to develop in the same way.

A point that I'd make is that I don't think Carl Froch struggles remotely with the level of opposition Saunders has faced thus far. An MD against Andy Lee? A split against Eubank? Squeaking through narrowly against Ryder and Akavov? Froch stops the lot with minimal effort.

Froch never faced anyone of the calibre of Andy Lee or Eubank Jr in his mid-twenties so we'll never know.

I look at it this way..... If Billy Joe can box to his absolute best and show us qualities in the ring that have never been proven against a fighter of Froch's ability, then yes, he could possibly beat Carl.

However his inconsistency and failure to look after himself at lower weights make this a relatively easy answer.

    Froch wins.

What's with all this Gypo cobblers being harder than any man standing? A former Sargeant of the Irish Guards who I was head bar cellarman for in the Black Country, many years ago, smashed the so called 'King of the Gypsies' to smithereens on a pub car park (admittedly, he was the regimental boxing champion back in the day), but trust me when I tell you that being a traveller isn't the only qualification you need to be a hard *******.

The Froch's were quite known for being a real pain in the ass themselves long before they took their boxing careers seriously. Froch has always been a fighting man and his level of determination and dedication is on a whole other level to BJS, and that's why he would beat Billy Joe. It's as simple as that.

Andy Lee could punch as well to be fair.
