Duran beat great fighters in Ernesto Marcel, Carlos Palomino, Pipino Cuevas, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Ken Buchanan, and Sugar Ray Leonard. DeJesus could be described as a great in his own right.

He beat Moore and Barkley after they beat "greats" Hearns and Benitez. Great wins. Duran in this space also lost to average fighters in Laing and Simms.

I would observe that Duran when past his best and outside of the Lightweight division was inconsistent and simply matched up better against offensive fighters like Hagler, Barkley, and Moore at that stage of his career. I'm not sure why that is a difficult thing to understand. Why certain opponents might be easier for an aging smaller fighter to overcome.

I notice a bad habit on this form is people trying to draw weird generalized conclusions that don't take into account context. This isn't a video game where Duran is the same guy in every fight. He fought over multiple divisions against all comers until he was 50 years old.

Anyway, there is little commentary here on the actual video...just Duran and Floyd hate. Or Floyd and Duran defending I'm guilty of that and will refrain.

Floyd is problematic for all styles and all fighters. He is a superb athlete with incredible reflexes. Where Floyd falls short, though, is entertainment value. His fights were boring. People tuned in to see him get KOd. That was his main draw.

Every time Mayweather's been pushed to the brink and imo lost(2 times) its been against the style Duran brought just nowhere near as good..The blueprint is there

What was Floyds gameplan against Castillo from the 6th round on? Just getting the **** beat out of him?

So he can't match Floyd's commitment and discipline? As Brother Nazeem told Shane Mosley..."this kids gift is his conditioning". Floyd is as committed to training as any fighter in the modern era. If Duran can't/won't do the work necessary to prepare for a big fight that would seem problematic when facing the guy who will work the hardest to be 100% prepared for a big fight.

Yeah but here in lies the rub..."Prime Mayweather" isn't fighting at 154 and probably isn't fighting at 147. So you're basically taking "prime" versions of ATG's and comparing them to diminished versions of Floyd.

Yeah JMM is all that...and Floyd absolutely sonned him, one of the most complete and thorough beat downs that I can remember, and I love JMM.

He sure beat him easily from the start by moving and countering and holding. It was easy.. Which is why he picked him to fight in 1989. He knew.. And Benitez beat him easily and Hearns did also. Excuses are nice if it made him feel good.

What weight is this fight taking place at ,135? Mayweather would never see the 15th round.
