I feel Usyk beats him, Dempsey was wide open to jabs, he dipped his head forwards as he was coming in bringing his head closer to his opponents lead hand, which is how Tunney boxed his head off, Usyk is too skilled for Jack I`d say.
Actually I agree with you. Dempsey was a 6'0 190 pound fighter. Which mean he is actually smaller than Usyk. The era that Dempsey fought in was vastly inferior compared to modern boxing. The skill levels are so far apart you can't even compare them. Usyk would destroy Dempsey. But don't you tell this too these people in the Classic Forum. According of them 6'0 170 pound Gene Tunney could beat the 6'3 230 pound George Foreman, the 6'5 230 pound Lennox Lewis, 6'5 Wladimir and 6'7 Vitali Klistchko. The 6'5 1/2 240 pound Anthony Joshua. Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowes ect. If you disagree with them they will get upset and then report you the moderator. The only thing I disagree with is when people like you use the term super heavyweight. There were tons of 6'4/6'5 plus guys boxing since the 70's. Nobody ever referred to guys this size being super heavyweight until the last few years. I guess some casual boxing reported on TV said it and now casual fans at home keep using that term.
Yeah, that is true regarding the term “super heavyweight”. I honestly never used it until I started frequenting this message board, and I guess I just picked it up after seeing it on here so much.
Usyk is a great fighter at 200 pounds. He's the bigger man in this matchup, but I still want to see just a bit more of him before I pick him over Dempsey. This fight might look a bit like Tunney vs Dempsey.
Tons of 6'4/6'5 heavies in the 70`s? Can you name them? Primo Carnera was considered a freak at 6'5 in the 30`s but he weighed a lot and was far more muscular than heavies in the 70`s except Norton and Weaver who were highlighted as marvelous physical specimens, big guys in the 70`s were not built like AJ or even Wilder, a lot of fighters in the 70`s had soft bodies, even the 6'3/6'4 Foreman didn`t have defined abs or arms, Fury and Wilder would have been freaks in the 70`s because of their reaches and the fact that they are over 6'5.
No way, Dempsey didn`t have the long jab of any of these heavies, Fury is constantly moving behind that long jab.
Look up Dempsey vs Fulton Fulton had the best jab in the business with sickening range, and Dempsey destroyed him in 1 round Dempsey KOs Wilder and AJ within 3, dunno about Fury.
