Spence called out Canelo (and GGG) and said that he would fight them at 160. Now that Oscar has offered Spence obscene money, is it a duck if Spence passes?

There is no $20 million without a solid contract. Like they say in the military, "If it ain't in writing, it doesn't count."
It's the same process you were talking about when Canelo was fighting GGG, EXCEPT, this ain't PPV so is DAZN paying or is GBP paying?

Just assume that Spence will receive $20 million.

Call me old fashioned, but I've never bought that you can duck someone who isn't in your weight class.

Fighters mention dudes all the time between fights to a) keep their names in the papers and/or b) distract fans from the lackluster fight that is probably coming their way. I don't put much stock into this being anything more than Spence piggybacking off Canelo's name, honestly.

Whats the point? Spence 147 Canelo 160-168 these days. I know Spence is big for a Welter but whats all this about? Theres plenty of good fights for Spence and there is plenty of good fights for Canelo and they are more than 1 division apart.

I like Spence and i like Mikey Garcia but their fight was completely pointless. Id see this as being the same. Also i dont think any version of Spence beats any version of Canelo. I just dont get it. Why?

He's ducking Crawford at the moment, so we would have to assume that he will duck Canelo as well.

I don't think one is necessarily ducking the other. Haymon doesn't seem to want anything to do with Arum or his fighters. At this stage it doesn't look like this fight will ever happen. Spence will move up to 154lbs after cleaning out everyone but Crawford. Crawford will fight bums until Top Rank can sign or develop some quality opponents for him. They have Saucedo JWW (28-01), Besputin WW(13-0), Barboza JWW (21-0), Mendoza WW (17-0) on their books but maybe none of them are as good as what he's been fighting.

I completely agree Haymon is a lot to do with it, but at some point the fighters need to be their own men. Wilder and now Spence...it's a travesty what's happening with PBC fighters.

True. They don't fight often enough and when they do, it's too often against sub par opposition. Sure there are TR and GBP fighters who cherry pick but it seems to be the PBC operating procedure to have most fighters fighting once a year and that's a tune up bout. Inadvertantly (and perhaps b/c of low calibre opposition and inactivity) some belts under PBC control have gone to harder working b-sides. Harrison must've been the lowest profile 154lber to win a belt in ages.
Both Charlo's stock has fallen. One b/c he narrowly lost his belt and the other b/c he think trolling the MW beasts is the same thing as fighting contenders.

Spence will fight Canelo in the future in 2 years time and will make significantly more than $20 Million.

Ggg might still be too much but spence BEATS canelo or maybe loses a BS decision.

I think it's been proven that today you truly have to stop canelo to beat him and stopping elite fighters especially bigger elite fighters is a massive gamble.

Some truly great ones aren't all about $$$ no matter what they're getting PAID..

Some would take 20m knowing they're going to lose a decision, i don't see spence ever accepting defeat without being brutally stopped..
