Herbie Hide hurt Bowe and he was smaller and less powerful than George. Bowe was too slow when he weighed around 230 and so were the other heavies during the 90`s, big men fight better these days, Vitali may have been too big for George though, he took Lewis`s punches well, but his arm punches wouldn`t have stopped Foreman at all.

No fighter ever has been, or ever will be, better in his late 40s, than he was in his mid 20s!

    That is just one example.

There has only been one era, where the best fighters of the era before last, were still competitive at the highest level!

But Herbie Hide lifted weights and trained with punching mitts probably.
    Thats the differentiator.

Oh geez! George was slower than steam off dog sh#t in the 90's! Foreman blasts out everyone . The only fighter that might beat George is Lewis , and that's if he gets through the first 5 rounds. Remember George did go the distance a few times when he was young

Hide was nothing but a cruiser, Foreman`s biceps were naturally bigger than his and he punched harder, Foreman stung Ali with his heavy hands, Hide wouldn`t have bothered Ali at all with his punches and all George`s punches were thrown with his whoe weight Hide used to flick out a lot of jabs and just throw point scoring punches often.

He was gassed badly at the end of the Peralta fight though.

Yeah but old Foreman had modern nutrition, he trained with people who knew newer techniques. He was better with angles and was more measured with his timing and cadence. He lifted weights and dragged trucks. He was ready for modern fighters.

The 70s Foreman was a whole other person from a whole other era who would stand no chance against modern fighters. He never used mitts. My 12 year old nephew knows how to box better. But old Foreman on the other hand would KO him in 3 seconds.

How skilled was 70s Foreman in your opinion? Is it just Foreman who couldn't compete with modern fighters? How about guys like Ali, Louis, Liston, Frazier?

    Louis is too small.
Listons power and strength wouldn't matter against the big men.
Frazier would get crushed by half of todays top 10 in under 3. He can't compete with the athletes of today.

Ali might win a few bigger fights here and there. But no way does he dominate. Joshua moves as quick as him, but is as strong as Foreman.
Fury was really skilled. Probably even close to Ali in skills. He ever grabbed the ropes and dodged 7 punches like Ali did.
Wilder has no technique. He's only knocking people out because he's 6'7. He has a SHW frame and size without the weight (an added bonus). Ali would make him look foolish but Wilder KO's him in the end because the reality of the size difference starts to play its toll.

Theres a reason that there are no 150lb NFL players.
There is a reason that Lebron James is Lebron James.
My iPhone 8 is faster than my iPhone 3.
Everything in life evolves. Boxing is no different. Old Foreman is just better.

An early 90s Tyson vs Foreman imo would be like Foreman Lyle. Close win regardless of who wins.

Nah it'd have to be an 87-88 Tyson imo to even knock down Foreman (still think Foreman wins)

I think Foreman beats 90s Tyson 10/10 times

He may have been undefeated retiring as champ. Prime Bowe has the best shot. Too strong and good at cutting off the ring for Tyson and Holyfield. Lewis not enough dog.
