You are obsessed and infatuated with criticising Duran. You have been doing it in here for a decade and have literally thousands of posts doing as such. It's truly bizarre.

I think Duran ****ed his sister.

    Or killed his dog.

Duran by decision. He would use aa relentless attack and get Benitez on the ropes. Benitez would avoid most shots but would have trouble getting his own offense on track.

I do wonder if Duran would have been as motivated for Benitez as he was for Leonard, though. My analysis is bassed on the assumption that Duran would be fully focused and motivated.

Bizarre that I do not like excuses in head to head matches where both fighters signed a contact? And the variables are on film and what happened in the three fights. I think the bizarre thing is how people excuse him for losses to great fighters, and yet he is miraculously in shape for Moore or Barkley. That is bizarre. Bizarre how people do not realize the absurd nature of excuses and that they are just that. Excuses for a loss. Even with Benitez somehow this was a slow year for Duran.

To be honest about boxing and not like excuses someone has to do that to your sister? I love the sport. I don't accept excuses by any fighter, and Duran was the King of excuses. It is rather simple. My reasons are not complicated. Had Duran beaten Wilfred that night people would have said it was the greatest night of his career.

Duran needs special motivation to beat a great fighter? He only fought one truly great fighter up that point Leonard. I would think a title and beating a great would have been motivation. To say he was not motivated and that was why he did not beat Benitez is not accurate, unless he had beaten other greats of this level before. He really did not. You can say Marcel or Buchanan or even DeJesus, but they were not Benitez level. Not close. Not in my mind. Why wouldn't he not be motivated? What does he need? How is he different than any other great who has to be motivated. Yet somehow Moore a year and a half later he is motivated for? Or Barkley? The reason he beat those guys was because they were not as varied as Leonard or Hearns or Benitez. Simply put.

You have literally got a profile picture of Duran getting KOd by Hearns.

    I'm not gonna argue.

    Good day.

That's right take the high road. I am the one who should not have responded to your first response. It was a demonstration in lack of class.

This would be another incredible fight, but Duran would edge this one.

His ferocity and motivation for beating Leonard meant he was never going to lose that fight. A focused, trained, dedicated Duran was nigh unbeatable by anyone. Benitez had the style to trouble Duran, but Duran had the ability to rise to an unprecedented level of ability when he wanted to. Benitez would be in the fight all the way until Duran knocks him out in round 14.

Wilfred had the style, the talent, and the defense. He did not have a fantastic offense. He will not keep Duran off him. Duran would find him late and finish him.

I think what people are missing was that when Duran fought Leonard the first time he was hungry and it was a huge payday- the biggest he'd ever received.
He wins and he's treated like a god everywhere.
And he now has millions .
I respect both fighters a great deal but when I watch Duran fight Benitez I feel something is missing from Duran.
I think had if Benitez had gotten in Durans way Duran would beat him.

So he lost his motivation and fought another 21 years for kicks? He was motivated when he won, but somehow not motivated when he lost as though skills had nothing to do with it. Losing to greats but beating Moore and Barkley? Why would he be motivated beating those guys, but not beating Benitez or Hearns which would have been huge feathers in his cap. Had he beaten then, he might have been the top great you guys say he is already, without the real wins. I don't think my explanations are out there. I think mentioning how the excuses are extreme is logical. I am surprised no one else mentions this unfairness.

Duran was a different fighter up to the first leanard fight, very fast on his feet, fast accurate punches, combinations, and power and confidence, even arragence. He was a different guy after that, sometimes still great, but never that same fighting machine. I really like benitez, but I don't see him getting away from Duran for 15 rds. Duran was on his guy quick, relentless. I'm glad I settled this. LOL

Perfect ending JoeBear. The antiDuran has been defeated and we now can move forward to how Rocky Marciano was a no count bum. Primo Carnera was a cut physical masterpiece w way underrated talent.. Joe Louis and Jack Dempsey and Jack Johnson would be lucky to be Canelo. And pernell put everything up yr nose including the rubber hose whitaker could beat Pattons 8th Army.

Well he fought for 21 more years for MONEY.
And to get the big money you have to win.
He beats Davey Moore and it unlocks bigger fights.
    Same with Barkley.
Throw in he knows he isnt getting any younger and hes not financially secure of course hes going to get up for certsin fighters.
