There's a genuinely interesting discussion going on in another thread about the tactic for AJ to beat Wilder, that hasn't yet resorted to criticising one another's resumes and how they are both ducking each other, mentioning how old Ortiz is, how Fury was fighting at 30% and that AJ is chinny.

Out of interest, what strategy does Wilder have to use to beat Joshua? I think the Fury fight showed that Wilder struggles against genuine boxers and I'd say AJ would be the 2nd best 'boxer' after Fury on his resume. Joshua showed in the Klitschko fight he can read a punch and largely had great success against a hard hitting better 'boxer' in Klitschko, so Joshua would probably be able to read Wilders wild telegraphed power punches. Joshua has greater size and so Wilder can't tire him by fighting rough throughout and has superior footwork.

Joshua on the other hand doesn't have the chin of Fury it would seem and Wilder is likely the biggest puncher he will face. But what tactic does he employ to land the big shot without being stopped in the process?

Wilder has a quick straight right, which comes very straight and isn't telegraphed. Only slick moves and feinting can keep him off, like fury. Mr Humble AJ will get caught and dropped so easy.

He really only has one weapon which is his right hand, he need to not load up on it like he did vs Fury, needs to disguise his step in with the lead foot before throwing the right hand that's also a big tell the right hand is coming.

He needs to take the fight late, most of his title defences have ended in the 2nd half of the fight when his opponents have tired enough to no anticipate his right hand as well. He has to be patient and wait for opportunities not force them, Joshua is a competent counter puncher and can hurt him if he just tries and bomb Joshua out quickly.

Don't trade with Joshua, AJ is much more compact and tight when throwing combinations while Wilder is wild and open to straight shots, trading with Joshua will see Wilder on his ass.

Wilder has to avoid being on the ropes, avoid the hugging and stay at range. Unfortunately, Wilder is not that smart. He will instead go toe to toe with AJ, which NO BOXER should be doing.

I think the first 2 rounds will be very cagey and nothing will happen. But then AJ will figure it out, force Wilder onto the ropes and brutally beat him up with combinations. Wilder might survive one round of the assault but he won't survive two.

Once AJ catches onto you, you can't get rid of him and that's when you know it's game over.

I dont see that as a smart move. Wilder isn't gun shy like the last few AJ opponents and will throw leather even when wobbly. AJ can't risk getting caught like that as he will be hurt and probably go down.

AJ needs to use his improving Jab and his excellent judgement of distance, Keep moving to the right and wait that a straight right down the pipe which will present itself.

Wilder does not beat him. I know Fury has predicted such but he also predicted Chuckles Martin would beat Joshua. He's got previous.

Wilder's default personality is to throw the wild right hand - when leading or when back peddling - so you need to make him somehow gun shy or time him. Keep the distance so you can anticipate what is coming and keep countering him. Break his will and then go for the kill

I'm going to go a bit out of the box with this, I really think Wilder could possibly beat Joshua by using his fists.

AJ needs to fight some crafty movers with One Punch KO power.

AJ is hittable from many Angles, his guard is open.

"Oh Dear, Oh dear, he wasn't Ready for the right hand of Wilder"

Aj-Joyce would be nice, toughen AJ up, if he gets past Joyce his guard will improve. I got my money on Joyce he will chase AJ like a bat out of Hell.

Try to give AJ plenty to guess about, get in his head, try to drag him deep into the fight so Wilder can get the rhythm down. Wilder has eventually timed everyone he's fought. I think if the fight ends in under 6 rounds AJ wins, if it goes later, Wilder times him and stops him. AJ has underrated chin and recovery, but he is not getting up like Fury did.
