Periban is an awful pick. Seriously what is the point in this fight. This has to be the worst PPV card since Bellew-Cleverly II.
There's no way Hearn would risk Buatsi with Kovalev. The difference between Yarde and Buatsi is that Yarde 8 or 9 fights in was still slowly being developed, meanwhile Buatsi has got Hearn calling everyone out but is still fighting the likes of Periban... I'm hoping they will make Buatsi vs Johnson this summer. Fair fecks if they do. I actually think Johnson could beat him.
Moreover, the Mexicans will have already bought their tickets to see their man in a HW world title challenge. That’s like saying a Brit would be tempted to buy tickets if Brian Rose was added to a card in the US on eight days notice when David Price is already in the main event.
Just realised that. Loving the irony lmao. Just to rubber stamp how awful this matchmaking is, Degale - a feathertisted SMW - wiped this guy out ALMOST FIVE YEARS AGO in three rounds. Five years later Hearn is putting a very hard hitting LHW who is clearly ready to be stepped up against this guy after two years of inactivity. The uproar over N’Dam v Smith was OTT IMO but this really takes the biscuit. Indefensible. @lencoreastside
Come on now. That’s one hell of a reach. Periban on an undercard is going to do nothing for subscriptions when he’s getting wiped out in one round clearly.
Not defending Yarde or anything but if this was announced as Yarde's next opponent this place would go into meltdown. Yet another mismatch for Buatsi.
I'm talking from the perspective of a Mexican fan who may be deliberating whether or not to jump in. I accept it's not likely to be decisive, but hearn and dazn will have those fans in mind.
The major difference between Buatsi and Yarde, is that Buatsi passes the eye test in terms of technical ability/boxing ability/boxing brain and is highly rated by everyone in boxing. If you were taking references from those inside the game, then Buatsi absolutely takes brutal vertical dumps on Yarde as a boxer. Buatsi isn’t world ranked top 3 and isn’t expected to fight top opposition yet. It is still early days for him at the moment. I have no idea why this thread even exists to be honest
He is, but I think the assumption is that given he's an Olympian and has pretty much wiped out everyone so far, he should be perhaps moving quicker than he is. Or at least not fighting a Super Middleweight who hasn't fought for two years.
