Shawn Porter, who’s a natural middleweight managed to cut down to 147 and have some success. But, now that he’s older it might be time to move back up, since he’s looked drained his last couple of fights.

Barrera had quite a few fights well over the 175 lb limit and was able to do pretty good cutting down to 175, but most likely would’ve picked up a title at cruiserweight.

Bob Foster also would regularly go up and down from heavyweight to light heavyweight.

it's hard to credit anyone with that, in that it isn't real if you know what I mean...

a fighter starts at Welter & finishes at L-HW is definitely NOT a L-HW only an aged fighter at the end of a long career where natural weight gain comes with age.

So he certainly gets credit for moving up, but his real weight in this example would be Middleweight. He 'might' have had some rated stay at Welter for example while younger and controlling weight, but when hitting his SIZE and Peak, his best success comes as a Middleweight. So this Example of Fighter A, get's ranked as a Middleweight!

that's how I see anyway - you can highlight all the Credible Wins and Competitive Losses at either end of a Career, but the Real Placement would be their Real Weight I'd say.

Hundreds of Great Examples in the Past - Ted Lewis, Homicide Hank and so on and on and on...

Today it might be a Welterweight start, then Jr Middle, then Middleweight, then finish off at S-MW, so said fighter is really a Middleweight, anything above just adds to the fact that they were an excellent MW who campaigned heavier to good effect (or not), at the end of their careers and that only adds to their True Weight Accolade.

very few can go back, it is often just as not true as the higher finishing off weight. You get the picture.

How do you see the fight panning out with Naoya? Would have been epic had Nonito been in his prime.

Don't know how you classify Triple Champ Bob Fitzsimmons: MW, Hvy, LtHvy champ.

Inoue has unreal power. Everyone is on about Wilder, Inoue is the real #1 p4p puncher. Donaire still has that left hook he slept Young with but he's old and he's slower now. And he used be a much better boxer before he moved up to 122. I like rooting for the underdog but I think Inoue puts him away. His straight punches are so accurate and Donaire doesn't have great defense. I still think he has a solid chin but that doesn't seem to matter against Inoue. The only thing I am curious about is Inoue's chin. I guess it goes both ways. Both fighters have the kind of power where quality of chin doesn't make a big difference. If Donaire was in his prime, this would have been a great fight. Maybe a bit like Arguello-Olivares. It's still a good fight but I think Inoue stops him.

Orlin Norris was a heavyweight contender and NABF titlist with wins over Renaldo Snipes, Jesse Ferguson, former WBA champ Greg Page and future WBC champ Oliver McCall! After losing a split decision to ex IBF champ Tony Tucker, Orlin moved down to cruiserweight and won the WBA title and successfully defended it 5 times.

Barry Michael had won a Commonwealth title at Lightweight and Australian titles at Lightweight and Super Lightweight before dropping down to Super Featherweight to take on Lester Ellis for his IBF belt.

It was actually a bit of cynical matchmaking on the Ellis camps part as Barry hadn’t made the weight in years and they thought young Lester would be fighting a weight drained corpse.

Instead Barry employed a dietitian for the first time in his life, took an extended camp and took off the weight while maintaining his strength and endurance. Ellis got outworked in the championship rounds by a guy who was anything but weight drained.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, Inoue just seem's to have everything stacked in his favour in this one. Hopefully Donaire can exploit some holes in his game though.

    Should be exciting!
