    Co-main event of a WBA championship doubleheader being staged by GBP in Fuzhou on May 26th. Xu will be making the 1st defense of his featherweight title against #10 rated Kubo.

    The champion has lost just twice professionally, via majority and split decision, both 4-rounders in his freshman year. Kubo has lost but once, in his first WBA super bantamweight title defense against Daniel Román in 2017.

    Xu is prepping for Kubo by sparring with former rival turned friend Jelbirt "Panther" Gomera. The southpaw Filipino - whom Xu defeated last year via TKO7 - is himself prepping to face Ryan Burnett for the WBC International super bantamweight title.
