Ali would outbox Lewis with his foot speed, dancing and his handspeed and keep the fight long. Lewis will need a Knock Out which will not happen. Lewis also slowed down in the later rounds when he didn't get an early KO.

I really don't think Lewis would cope at all well with Ali's speed.
I think Ali would outbox him and outspeed him in quite one-sided fashion.

Probably not that, but something as shocking as that, would happen somewhere!

im not so sure size is the one of main factors here. When you come to great heavyweights, and those 2 are certainly up with the best ever imo, 2 inches aint a great deal. Ok, theres a bit of a difference weight wise but that could quite easily go against the heavier man the longer the fight goes on, especially if its a 15 rounder. So we're assuming both men train like demons for this and are in tip top shape, then i fancy a close enough fight until Ali drags lennox into deep water and makes the championship rounds count for him for a UD on points. I could also envision lennox taking 1 out of a 3 fight series, but all relatively close enough. I dont see either knocking the other one out although a late late stoppage isnt entirely out of the question either

Neither a Prime Ali or Lewis is an easy fight for anyone not named Primo

Ali had the better jab, and Lewis had a tendency to paw with his and look for that big right. I think Ali takes this in a decision, I an action filled but somewhat ugly fight. Ali will grab him around the neck ala Foreman and pull his head down and wait for the referee to unclinch them while using his quicker jab to outpoint Lewis.

Not digging you out here mate, there were fights he couldn't win, there were fights where he didn't and got the decision anyways, your post reminds me a little bit of Ali worshipping. People don't like hearing it, but head to head theres a few that beat him without a doubt, whether he gets ko'd is arguable

Did Lennox Lewis ever beat any type of slick, elusive fast boxer ?
His best reputation is largely built on wins over big, relatively slow/immobile, but very powerful guys who stood in front of him ...... Golota, Grant, Ruddock, Tua, Vitali, Briggs, Bruno, Rahman etc ....

Holyfield was probably the best skillful mobile heavyweight he faced .... but a slowed-down 36/37 year old version.
And Holyfield was never particularly elusive.
I think Ali had more range than Holyfield too, more reach.

I think Lewis would have real trouble with the hand speed and foot speed of Ali.
He'd be eating jabs and right hands. He could barely avoid Mercer's slow jab, or Bruno's, at all.
He'd be playing catch up from the opening round and he'd never get far at all. He might pick up a couple of rounds where Ali chooses to coast but he'd lose a fairly wide decision.

Of course we would. How will they compete with a 6'8 super HW with the power of the modern on his side

Lewis was one of the toughest all time match ups for anyone but Ali had his own terrific size and reach. Ali was exceptionally strong in his own right. Ali's chin and stamina were first rate .. I see him confusing and outpointing Lewis behind his own terrific jab .. look at the fits Bruno gave Lewis with a solid jab till he tired out in Bruno fashion.

People are forgetting another thing, Ali was a master of mind games and mental warfare outside and inside the ring. All the insults, taunts leading up the fight will surely take a toll on Lewis's mind and if Ali resorts to insults, disses in the ring as the fight goes and difficult, i see Lewis becoming demoralized.

And if it's a 15 rd fight, Ali probably stops him late. Lewis is just a heavier version , harder punching Ernie Terrell with about the same skill level but Terrell had better endurance. All that extra weight Lewis had would equal dead legs by the 9th-10th rd trying to catch Ali. Ali had problems with left hookers, straight, and esp hooking or winding right hands he never had issues with and would see Lewis's power punch a mile away. If Lewis had the jab of Larry Holmes he would give Ali HELL! If not beat him out right . But his jab was more pushing/pawing range finder not snapping and fast. Ali would easily counter Lewis's jab with his lightning quick lead right hand consistently beat him to the punch. I know the size kings think size means wins , but when size is in a contest with a better skilled boxer, and not a fighter that would be overwhelmed by sheer size and strength ( and Ali wasn't a small man) only thing that size would mean is he would have farther to fall when he falls to the canvas.
