I wouldn't describe any of these fighters as journeymen!

A regional clubfighter versus a depleted old man on his very last fumes? Match-ups of motivated performers don't exactly translate to elite performances. Entertainment does not equal elite. See: Gatti-Ward

Walcott wasn't just a heavyweight champion, he was also one of the best contenders in the history of the heavyweight division.

Even if he had never held the title, he would still be a standout of the era.

That is why I would never call him a journeyman.

I still wouldnt say Braddock is a journeyman, even if he had not won the title. Although (I think) simply by definition, the heavyweight champion cannot be a journeyman. Not saying I disagree, but what are examples of bad judgement do you have in mind? I appreciate any possibly new information on Walcott. Or any of the old greats, really

McGrain liked your comment and i was worried that you were gonna be booted again for a second

Btw i'd highly recommend both of Hanza's vids on Walcott. Walcott is actually one of my favorite fighters. Man defined perseverance

He waited around for a soft spot in the championship line, found it and was quickly replaced by the first non octogenarian he met. He gets an A+ for perseverance. Elite journeyman.

post Ali Spinks is definitely a journeyman

pre cinderella comeback / post loughran loss Braddock as well

Braddock just eventually developed into a man who was beyond what you could define as a Journeyman. The will to win and developing his left hand certainly helped

I love Marciano. Just watched rez's video the other night. There was a time I picked him as #1 head to head sub 200 pounds... And was loud about it in these parts. But the lunacy has made for too ripe a target to not take the occasion al swing.

Regardless, Walcott was a high functioning journeyman.

I have noticed that some of your older, and i mean older, comments on here about Marciano are tame and sometimes even fair and kind

unlike now, in which you use any excuse to insult and belittle him and the condition of any man he fought

I wish i could've been around to see those days

Walcott was up by several rounds over Joe Louis in the second fight. What does he do, clown around and get nailed? Yep. Had he just moved and boxed, he had the decision.

More bad judgment would be him being the official in Liston vs. Ali 2.

If Walcott was a journeyman in your book, what does that say about Joe Louis, who was gifted a decision win over him, and Rocky Marciano who needed a come from behind 13th round knockout to defeat him?

Your answer will tell me everything. Neither of these were fluke performances.
