Is the new batch of up and coming heavyweights going to be better than....

Is the new batch of up and coming heavyweights in Hrgovic, Ajagba, Makhmudov, / Joyce ( pick one or the other ) going to be better than the current top guys in Joshua, WIlder, and Fury 2- 4 years from now?

Please only take the poll if you've seen the young guns fight.

 

Don’t forget Usyk and Gassiev. And yes it will be better. Sirenko will be in the mix as well.

 

The middle of the top ten rankings will be stronger. I think Usyk might get to the top once he gets the chance.

 

None of the young guys has shown us anything yet to suggest they are a threat. But if anyone could I think it's Hrgovic.

Not sold on Ajagba, Wallisch showed he has defensive issues. Wallisch had not problem getting inside on Ajagba by simply putting his hands up and marching forward, Ajagba's movement doesn't look great at this stage he moves back in straight lines. He has no head movement and his defence is simply to cover up, there's no defensive nuance to his game, he's all offense.

 

if nothing else the division will get a lot deeper. I think Hrgović and Makhmudov are massive threats the big 3 in their current state, they could easily surpass them by the time they get title shots. Ajagba needs more time to grow but his potential’s massive. Jalolov and Dychko will end up in that mix in time as well I believe.

 

I'd throw Dubious in there. Need a young American to raise up. Not sure who that will be. Closest right now is Darmani Rock I suppose.

Wouldn't know. Haven't seen him fight. Jermaine Franklin also has a pretty good record but think he is about 6'2. Hard with this crop of HWs.

There really isn't an exciting one like a Wilder or AJ coming up. Miller was good for America. A shame he was dirty.

 

Mahkmudov is weakening your choices. If Sirenko and Conto are added instead they are bigger talent and would give the edge all around .

 

The young guys look better than the current guys did with a similar amount of fights.

Fury was a nobody starting out . Wilder, set up with easy marks fighting a guy with a 4-7-5 record for his 10th fight.

Joshua was the only one with a decent pace

On Ajagba, I think he hits harder than Wilder, and has skills. IMO 3 years from now the young lions will devour the old lions. They are better as a group and will have a significant age advantage. On the young lions, they 'll fight anyone. That's a problem with the top three right now.

 

The work weak and Mahkmudov do not go together. If he lands his right or uppercut flush, the fight either ends or ends in the next round.

He's a batter who can take a punch too. As for his skills, a fair boxer.

 

I'll pick Hrgovic, Joyce and Ajagba of those names just ahead of Makhmudov right now.

I don't know if they'll be better than the current crop of Joshua, Fury and Wilder down the line but they could turn out to be. A lot of it depends if these newer names are willing to put in the work and show the willingness to learn.

Liking the look of Filip Hrgovic so far. I think he'll be a HW champ with the right learning fights and opportunities over the next 18 months to 2 years. I thought he beat Yoka in the Olympics, as I think Joyce did too.

Joyce is older, but looks pretty strong.
Ajagba has a way to go, but is big and powerful. They can likely make it to title shots at the very least if progressed properly.

Impressed by Makhmudov, his composure and killer instinct so far but wonder why he left it so long to turn pro.

Throw in Usyk who's knocking on the door at HW, Sirenko, Dubois/Gorman, Dychko, Jalolov, maybe Hunter etc and it's a promising division in the near future.

 

Joshua, Wilder and Fury are all extremely underrated.

 

i'd hedge my bets with the boxer with the best amateur career too

I must have a blind spot for Yoka, as very few on here seem to rate him. I don’t know if him and Hrgovic will beat the top 3, but I’m confident that they would give the best contenders a run for their money right now.
