And his losses? Two being to top 5 guys. One or which he did very good in(Parker) and even against AJ he had some late moments which may have lead to the questionable breaks from the ref. Takam resume as far as wins go may be lacking but the dude has to fought the who's who the division and never disgraces himself. What's the point of this thread? An attempt to discredit him as an opponent for Usyk?
It's more how he's performed in his loses. He gave AJ some problems before the ref decided to controversially wave the fight which occurred at a time just when it appeared AJ was starting to gas and Takam was coming on, IMO. And he was shutting Chisora out and handling him way easier than Whyte did before Chisora (Chisora is a physically strong dude who will physically shoot you but Takam was physically bullying him at times IIRC) managed to salvage victory from the jaws of defeat by pulling the punch of his career out of nowhere. He pushed Parker real close and fought on even terms with Povetkin (who was Usyk's first choice for his HW debut) until the later caught him and took him out. He's a big, strong and very capable and dangerous customer and has caused problems for the best HWs out there.
Who's overrating him? Most everyone that talks about Takam talks about how awkward and tough he is. He gives fighters hard rounds.
He should definitely have a big “tried hard” asterisk by his losses. Maybe a nice participation trophy. Who exactly didn’t “push Parker real close” among those who have fought Parker? Sheesh. If that’s the measuring stick, I guess Burrito Ruiz and Pattycakes Baby Hughie Fury are world-beaters.
If you're going that route, then what has Stiverne been for the last 4+ years? He only edged Rossy, and that was controversial, and lost every single round in the other fights he was in and stopped twice. So not even a decent journeyman, I guess?!
