There has probably been 100s of threads like this and we will probably be here all day with this as 90% of sky boxing commentary is cliche after cliche without hardly any technical analysis and not too dissimilar on other networks.

What are the ones that really get to you?

    For me

-"He is showing real heart" Whilst he in there taking an absolute pasting and probably desperate for the ref to get him out of there.

-Not so much a cliche but when there is an assumption if someone comes from a certain country they fight the same as every other boxer from that country. If I had a pound for every time I heard "typical Mexican".

-"Glass Jaw" after someone has been dropped. Prime example is AJ after taking a monster right hand from Wlad.

-"Ducking" someone because they haven't fought them

"you have to really rip the title from the champion"

    or my biggest hatred.....

"you don't get paid extra for overtime"....there is no overtime in boxing. Even if you KO'd your opponent in 2:59 of round 12, it's still not overtime

Adam Smith quotes probably will take up most of this thread

    "...... And there's the respect!"

    "a real 50/50 this one"

    "a real fighting man"

which as far as i can work out is code for Gypsy who has been training since he could walk.

"fight town/city" which i think is code for bit rough.

Seems to be flavour of the month at the moment.

I have just subconsciously read every comment on here in Adam Smith's voice in my head. What a horrible few minutes.

Not so much a boxing term but hate it when commentators say someone "just about" did something.

Ie.... A fighter just about survives that round. No he either did or didnt survive their is no "just about". If anything "just about" insinuates that he didnt really survive (or whatever they use it to describe) as in he almost survived. No he DID survive no just abouts, about it !!

Silly wee pet peeve of mine !

" I am a fighting man that comes from long history of family of fighting men" - Tyson Fury before and after turning down 2 rematches with Wlad, turning down offers from AJ and Wilder before fighting Schwarz and then rulling Whyte out as a future opponent.

"This is heavyweight boxing, anything can happen" (or is that just Hearn?).
