I would not mind seeing this at all. I think Smith would be the clear and obvious favorite but I would not count out Canelo completely.
I don’t think Canelo would take this fight. He doesn’t have to move up n has no reason to want to. Callum is a big, strong dude who would tower over Canelo n I don’t even know the reach advantage. Canelo is quicker now but at 168...he might be slowed down considerably. He’s already a short stocky middleweight. Smith is a nightmare for just about anyone. He could keep Canelo at a distance n if Canelo manages to get inside smiths left hook to the body is sick. His whole inside game is good for his length and has good power with left hooks to body/head and uppercuts. At distance his jab and his right hand are both strong fast and accurate. He’s just to big for Canelo. And skilled to boot. Not to mention hungry. The guys a beast. Ginger has a lot more incentive to stay where he is and there’s far less risk. Love to see it. I’d pick smith without question in a head to head 168 fight. I’d pick smith over anyone at 168 and I don’t see anyone moving up from 160 to beat him golovkin included
You just know fishnets would want a rehydration clause that drained Smith even more than he already is. He wouldn't even allow Fielding to be 100% Imagine all of the BS theyd try to throw at Smith an elite SMW.
I tihnk Canelos style can jump the weights,from WW to MW and even to SMW to a degree, but this is asking too much, Smiffy is a LHW proportionally really, and categorially an elite now too. It would be like watching Thorin Oakenshield versus Ugbuk the Urukhai (or whatever his name was I dont keep tabs,if Tolkien can make names up so can I).
170 vs 190 cm is a lot of a difference. Especially the height difference is reflected on reach as well. Canelo doesn't have the legs and stamina to survive and beat Callum Smith. I'm not sure if he gets KOed because Smith has a **** jab and isn't very active but there is no way he wins this. He loses it and with a high probability of getting KOed.
I think Ginger nuts has a good chance here. Sure Smith has loads of physical advantages but Canelo is way more experienced, has much more variety and is much more active. I think Smith would find Canelo hard to pin down given his good movement and i can see Canelo pot shotting and countering his way to a UD.
Callum would make Canelo work too hard, making the 5 foot 9 168 pound man gas very quickly and get KOd
Smith UD. I give Canelo little chance to be honest. I dont think they take this fight. And I hope they dont. Canelo should stay at 160.
This fight would go to the safety of Vegas were canelo would win the judge decision. I can see this fight happening but not in the uk
Canelo split debated decision if in US west coast, Smith close decision possibly split if in the UK. Definitely not a knock out either way, and Callum has that extra determination with what happened to Liam
