He should have had the same gameplan like he did against Povetkin. Aiming the jab down low to slow Ruiz down...
Ruiz will beat him next time too. Hands too fast, feet too fast, too accurate, decent power, better stamina...just all wrong for AJ.
Joshua didn't throw his uppercut, didn't throw body punches. He fought dumb, and his chin is clearly fragile.
It's strange, but it looked like Ruiz was stronger than him, and faster him, while being morbidly obese. 247 weren't too heavy for Joshua either. I dont think he can do much more in the rematch. He's shook. WTF.
Yeah, I think AJ was probably trying to force an early KO in response to Wilder's KO1 of Breazeale -- who took AJ 7 rounds to KO. AJ probably undertrained too due to lack of respect for Ruiz.
The scenario was Joshua was winning and was landing flush shot after flush shot. He got hurt in an exchange trying to finish Ruiz and never recovered. It's not a scenario that tells us Ruiz will beat him again. When neither was hurt, Joshua was better.
He did! Different was, Ruiz wasn't a shot 39 year old that Povetkin was. Joshua used the exact same plan but didn't work against a prime contender. And I'm pretty certain it wouldn't have worked against a prime Povetkin either. Ruiz was never going to slow down! Povetkin only slowed down because of being too old and shot. AJ can't hurt Ruiz with his punches and that's one of the biggest reasons why Ruiz is all wrong for Joshua.
Anthony Joshua didn't get knocked out by a lucky punch after winning every round. Or from gassing out prematurely. AJ was literally outclassed from start to finish. Ruiz (and Miller) are stylistically all wrong for the bodyuilder.
Great fight.. I love an upset! I didn't personally think Ruiz could do it, but AJ didn't look good right from the start. I think he underestimated him totally. The first time he went down I knew right there the fight was lost for him, he looked shell shocked. I don't think he recovered from it mentally.
You dont think Ruiz would have slowed down with all that weight being cared? I think Joshua did good until he KD'd Ruiz. This happened to Klitschko and most definitely is soon to happen for Wilder aswell.
