Nice observation by your Dad. I think for Ruiz this was the fight he was motivated for and Joshua had a little of the Kalambay syndrome of maybe being in the US for the first time or at least his first big fight here ( was this his first fight here? ) and being a little in shock, but no excuses since I talk about excuses and not accepting them, but Joshua was fighting Ruiz, not Wilder. But this happens and styles make fights. . Ruiz won with fast hands and catching Joshua and not letting him recover, or rather Joshua never did recover. He had a hard time taking many clean Ruiz punches. People ask what Wilder is thinking, I am asking what is Klitchko thinking.

It's like what happens to bullies when they get theirs tossed right back at them. The look on AJ's face when the ref stopped the fight was just incredible. All that needed to be said was right there on his face, NO MAS!

Fury is unpredictable and he wants to be that way. He will never give people what they think he will, except in the ring where he is pretty consistent.

Ruiz did wonderfully given the preparation. He's a natural fighter, which comes with his speed. He has exquisite fast twitch muscles and his mind has had to adapt to catch up to them. However, talk of preparation can't go without mention of Joshua's lack thereof. He was all lined up to fight a crude juggernaut in Miller, who would have none of the speed, intricacy or reaction time of Ruiz. It's not excuse for Joshua's loss, but it's a reason.

Well how can you blame him. It is not his fault he was relieved he was hurt and knocked down four times. We cannot expect guys to take punches all night and hurt themselves. But he has to learn from this. How a man like Emanuel Steward could help him. I will tell you one guy who should train Joshua. Lennox Lewis. even Vlad. It sounds crazy, but they could help him more than most people could.

Yeah I fully agree, maybe this is the blueprint for defeating Joshua, taking his intimidation factor away and humbling him. We've seen Wlad and Whyte do it BUT it was only with ONE SHOT. Ruiz did it multiple times, till AJ just broke down completely.

I guess all these stories about AJ being chinny might be right, if you know how to catch him properly and you punch hard enough.

Still can't believe how hurt Joshua was, his face completely changed after those first two knockdowns... Ruiz took his soul like in Mortal Kombat.

They had this coming, Hearn and Sky, they have been robbing us blind for years, to see them all realise the gravy train just got derailed cheered me up.

I think it comes down to, how many times can he be knocked down? It was looking ridiculous at 4 knockdowns. He wasn't getting competitive in the fight and frankly the future looked bleak.

The referee did a good job in finishing that one.

I agree, it's a wonderfully inspiring thing to see, the fat kid that gets underestimated against some skilled, mountain of a man.

So happy for Ruiz and all underdogs.

No actually he just fought with the wrong gameplan.

You are wrong and you know it, and I don't appreciate someone who can;t admit when they are wrong.

    Horrible attribute.

    I agree, LOL

I go to a lot of amateur shows, speak to lots of boxers both amateur and professional and I've been told on several occasions by different people AJ was "stopped" by Okolie in sparring, like really stopped, didn't know what day of the week it was stopped.

I wasn't so sure, still ain't 100% but watching him tonight and how he reacted to those glancing shots, I believe it now.

I've heard other rumours too, not sure how true they are but I'm starting to think they might be.

Parker didn't lose to Ruiz. If anything it was a draw. Parker and Ruiz were fairly evenly matched for speed. Parker's chin is also a lot better than Joshua's. Frankly, Joshua's chin needs to be noted for its weakness. When he gets clipped, as in the fights with Whyte, Klitschko, Povetkin and now Ruiz, he is wobbled in a way that states in no uncertain terms that his senses have been deeply affected by the concussive force of his opponent's punch.

Ruiz is a Haymon fighter, the ball is in Al's court, Although there is a rematch clause, I don't know if it's an immediate rematch. That might leave room for a Wilder fight.
