Wilder and Fury got huge boost from fans thinking they are future Joshua's 'opponents'. Both had barely any fan fare before AJ shot onto the scene.
Ya I understand that we will get to see Wilder vs Ruiz without massive marination and I am happy for that. But at the same time... if him and his entire squad arent kicking themselves for not just taking the cool 120mill and rolling the dice on being the one that exploded AJs dome. Like it or not... beating Ruiz is not the same as taking AJs 0. (To the public) And had he been the one that decapitated AJ he would have went next level stardom. That will not happen with Ruiz. In Ruiz hes going to have possibly even harder opponent, that brings much less money and fame. IMO he was stupid for not taking the AJ fight.
Stylewise Wilder would beat Ruiz easily.. Then again we thought Joshua would beat Ruiz easily. I do know that Tyson Fury would beat Ruiz rather easily also.. The fast hands are the thing about Ruiz.. So fighting him on the outside and landing will work. I think AJ was surprised in this and a rematch would be different. Sometimes substitute fighters can be tougher. Kinchen was a sub for Hearns.
Wilder couldnt do more than 1 million views on REGULAR non PPV Showtime TV against Breazale. I bet Showtime operated at a loss on that fight unless they got some good ad revenue for commercials. Wilder is not a draw.

I think Ruiz is as bad a style match up for Wilder as he was for Joshua. I’d certainly pick Ruiz in that fight.

Joshua dropped him when he landed. Wilder faster and more wreckless, I think he stops Ruiz early. I don’t know why Joshua didn’t just try to circle and jab his head off. He kept pawing his jab like a range finder.
I don’t think Ruiz was hurt at all by that knockdown, you could see him brace himself as he went down. He was knocked off balance and was clear headed. I think Wilder’s punches will be too easy to avoid, Joshua throws straighter punches. Agreed that Joshua needed to jab and jab some more, I don’t think that was on the cards due to his desire to match Wilder’s recent performance. That’s the only way Joshua could have or would win against Ruiz. He has to win in a boring fashion.

No, always thought Joshua fights like a textbook amateur, very basic, but his physicality gets him by. He needs a new coach. Wilders 1-2 is much harder to avoid, because it’s longer, wilder, faster. If you ever boxed you’ll find that noob textbook amateurs are easier to box than someone who just goes in wildly and throws the rulebook out the window. Obviously the latter won’t work as you go up at a higher level but with Wilder’s power and lack of talent at HW he makes it work. Just imagine if Fury had lightsout power for example, he would make wilder pay. So we have Fury who is chinny and had no power. Wilder who is a wild haymaker with bombs. Joshua who is a physical speciman but fragile and fights like an amateur boxer with 2-3 years experience. All very good but serious holes.
