All of the above -- or at least better than I thought, as many people here gave Ruiz a fair bit of respect. However, I unfortunately do think AJ may have had an "off night" for some reason. I don't know what that reason is. Fear of coming to the US, lack of PED access outside of the UK, disregard for Ruiz, etc. I don't know. But I'm holding my breath a bit until we see the outcome of the rematch in the UK. I've been a perennial hater of AJ, so I'm happy he lost, I just still have some doubts.
I’d say both. But Joshua was being hyped WAY too much off getting gifted to an Olympic Gold, beating a 41 year old Klitschko coming off a two year layoff, beating a 39 year old Povetkin 30lbs lighter than him and scraping by Parker. Joshua will lose the rematch. Then Eddie will get him another chance against Usyk after Oleksandr gets the belts. Joshua will be schooled to a stoppage in that one then fade off into Who Gives A ****land.
I think Joshua was complacent, he only had the KO on his mind and made the same mistake he made when fighting Whyte and almost got dropped. He should of boxed him more but instead was trying to impress on his US debut. He was too relaxed in the build up and paid the price. This is heavyweight boxing and one punch can change a fight. Ruiz Jr is better than I thought, better chin and showed real self belief didn't just show up for the payday. He had a Joshua who gave him opportunities to counter and took those opportunities and shocked the world.

I said before this to the guys at my work , do not be surprised if Ruiz puts it on Joshua and gives him a lot of trouble, he could cause the upset. They laughed me out the tea hut and slated my views , I look forward to Monday morning now
I had a hard time accepting what I was seeing with Ruiz. Every time I see his physique I tell myself he can’t be that fast, or powerful, or skillful. He is, I don’t think I’ll have any problem recognizing that now. AJ isn’t a fraud, hhe put Ruiz on the canvas for the first time in his career along with several other contenders, and has compiled a very good record for how many fights he has. I do think the case against him being glass-jawed is getting pretty hard to argue now though.
I remember seeing Andy Ruiz like two years ago when I looked him up on you tube after somebody on this forum mentioned him. I saw the pudge and laughed but about a minute or two into watching him fight I wasn't laughing anymore. You could see the skills and the speed. Then in the last two years watching his fights I started wondering if he could be a serious player in the division and holy crap here he is.
I think Joshuas chin has been cracked and wont be the same,a lot of fights have seen guys not willing to engage due to the obvious offensive abilities that he possesses but now that Ruiz has shown that his chin and heart are somewhat suspect,future opponents wont be as cautious.
I think AJ is done and Ruiz is a bad matchup for him. If you watched the fight you clearly saw that once the punches started flying Ruiz was beating AJ to the punch every time. Unless AJ becomes faster or develops an incredible jab that can keep Andy off of him its going to be the same result. Also yeah AJ was hurt but his gas tank was on E and simply couldn't maintain the pace with Ruiz.
Agreed. I think if this was in England it would have been very different! A lot of pressure with the whole wilder thing and US debut, I think his mind was elsewhere.
This. I knew Ruiz wasn’t going to be easy pickings, but at the same time I didn’t think he was going to beat Joshua like a drum and take his titles, but then again that’s what makes boxing so exciting, since anybody can be beaten.
