People will probably say AJ has a glass chin now but AJ has taken major bombs from hard HW punchers like Klitschko, Povetkin, Whyte, among others and only went down once before. I wouldn't say he has a glass chin but there was something very fishy about AJ taking bombs from guys that hit far harder then Ruiz and then being decked so easily by Ruiz who was not even a puncher. How do you assess his chin after tonight?
Lol first off kid Klitschko fought timid because he couldn't take a punch. If he was more aggressive he would of knocked out AJ early .Wlad was also past his prime. Alexander Povetkin was old and couldn't do much. Dillian Whyte is extremely crude and unskilled. He landed maybe 1 good punch against Joshua and had him hurt. He wasn't skilled enough to finish the job. Joshua can't take a punch and he has horrible stamina.
His chin isn't the issue, it's heavyweight boxing, anyone can get KO'ed it's his defence, he fought a stupid fight and paid the price, if he did it once no reason why he can't do it again. He needs to learn to either move after throwing or clinch after throwing or ideally both, because he's twice now vs Whyte and Ruiz shown he can be caught on the counter. But it's obvious that his chin isn't iron but we already knew that after being rocked by Whyte and dropped by Wlad. I'd say his chin is average but his defence is a liability vs any puncher he gives the chance to land on his chin.
Ruiz's speed, non stop Tyson like body punching followed by the right and left to the head did him in. AJ always panics when he gets hit in the face and has the soul sucked out of him. I was just shocked at how gun shy he became after the 3rd round.
His chin is the issue, just because it is heavyweight boxing. The likes of Tyson, Holyfield, and even Lewis got hit with bombs in moments of lapses in concentration but they were able to still remain in control of the fight and had the composure, presence of mind to fire back.
Lol everybody in the heavyweight division can be stopped? Weird since guys like Oliver McCall were never stopped. Guys like Foreman were only stopped 1 times in 81 bouts. The typical casual fan spouting the same wrong thing over and over is tiresome. There is no way a prime Foreman, David Tua, Oliver McCall , George Chuvalo ect would be stopped by some relatively light punching butterball like Andy Ruiz. Anthony Joshua just can't take a punch and he has horrible stamina and skill.
His chin is fine. He just suffers from Brunoitis, standing stock still and taking unanswered shots through the guard. He has terrible recuperative abilities.
I was rooting for Ruiz and kept thinking Joshua would catch his breath and KO him from Ruiz getting to cocky and punching himself out but no. Joshua became to gun shy to do anything and anytime he hit Ruiz Ruiz would throw 3-4 punches right back. Like he said in the interview instead of going all out on the 4th he took his time to not gas out and it payed off
Lewis(who I'm a fan of) did get sparked twice. But yes you're right, Holyfield and Tyson got hit with all kinds of shots for years and never went out without taking a beating. Holyfield Vs Bowe, Tyson moorer Stewart, Foreman etc Tyson Vs Ruddock,Douglas Holyfield and lewis
