Speed x mass = power However excess mass does lead to less speed at a certain point, and less power. Ruiz Jr could definitely benefit from getting himself back into the shape he got into after the loss to Parker, and losing the tyre around his stomach.
Ruiz just has his number guys simple as that. AJ is still capable of beating most of the division same as he was before the fight. He just came up a guy that was all wrong for him, too short, head movement, hand speed, boxing brain, superior stamina. Ruiz gets beat by guys that AJ would beat, styles make fights is an old saying but is so true, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses it's just when you match certain fighters together you get different outcomes. If you look at the top 10-15 guys now you could make all manner of fights with different winners and losers. And as for being fat everyone should know muscle burns more oxygen than fat hence why he gasses out.
It is even harder to believe he didn’t show much effort to prevent that outcome. I mean, this must be the worst-inactive I’ve seen him. Whatever the reason was, he got what was coming for him, you don’t walk around the ring backwards without so much as jabbing the little guy to prevent him from coming forward. I hope Ruiz bought a scratch card right after the fight.
Skill over anything. I have given Ruiz a ton of **** these few months, but I never denied his skill. Tonight he showed it.
Yes Ruiz is an obese man. But he is a boxer, not a super-skilled boxer, he just knows how to beat his hands, from different angles, feels the opponent, distance, attack-counterattack-attack this is all, safely forgotten in our "era of fitness."
You know what it is ? Joshua's really nothing special either, and never was. He's been the most overrated heavyweight of recent years, BY FAR, and a lot of us have been saying so for a long time.
I think he lacks a top boxing brain, the ability to think on the cuff, which means like waldo he can get smashed out when things are outside his pre-planned box.
The thing is Ruiz isn't a big puncher. Joshua just can't take a punch well, has no stamina, and has no heart.
Just listened to a bit of post fight talk & Aj confirmed by belief that he was rattled more by shots to his temple and on his dome. Doesn't justify losing, but clears up for me, how there were few if any highlights of Andy landing shots on the chin. He did have a bloody nose, but questions still can be asked, unlike Wilder vs Brezeale, we SAW where the shot landed. With AJ, not that clear, let alone why he came across as gassed so early.
We’ve seen it many times before...fighter doesn’t look like himself one night, and not necessarily because the other guy had anything to do with it. I’m saying something may have been off about Joshua mentally. It happens.
I think AJ showed decent chin when he got up from the Klitschko knockdown and turned around the fight. He also took big punches from Whyte who we know can punch. Bottom line: AJ didn't lose because of a bad chin last night. We're talking general boxing skill here.
