Good to have you back, WhataRock. I was a little concerned when your *vacation* lasted longer than a week but glad to see it's come to an end. Maybe just hang out on the Stifler's Mum thread for a while. Where you belong.
* George Kambosos Jr new trainer is Javier Centeno . George now trains at Centeno Sweatbox Boxing Gym Miami. Centeno trained Randall Bailey . Might be a good change for George as i always thought Justine Fortune was more of a conditioning coach. George didn't sign with a big time trainer as being with a coach with less big name fighters he can be the centre of attraction. * Jason Whateley fight with Victor Oganov will be streamed next Sat June 1 on Aust Boxing Facebook. * Mal Meninga showed why he is such a revered leader. Old kangaroo players still talk about how when big Mal was captaining two of his record four kangaroo tours. It goes that a team mate walked into their hotel after taking a beating from a local tough after a disagreement over a local lass at the local pub. The player had been chatting her up but she left out the fact she was married and her husband turned up. Mal then walked into that pub where the husband sat and dragged him outside and gave him a hiding. Big Mal " No one touches one of my players ". * 6 x Irish Champ Conor Wallace is now 6 - 0 after a 2rd tko. Conor has the prudential to be the next TJ Doherty or Dennis Hogan. Bondi based Foley heading back home. This content is protected How bout Ferocious vs Devin Haney in a LW title eliminator ? Haney is being groomed by DAZN like Munguia to be their new golden boy ? That Irish Light Heavy is worth keeping an eye on. I missed the rise of TJ Doheny & came in late on Dennis Hogan's career so I'm looking forward to rectifying that with Conor Wallace who appears to have the best amateur credentials of the three. There's a decent pathway for him at LH in this country so it will be interesting to track his progress. He was in Sydney recently doing some sparring so he gets himself around to make sure he's doing what he needs to improve. A fight with Reagan Dessaix for the Australian title would be worth seeing. Darragh Foley would be a good opponent for Liam Paro @ light welter. I've been quite impressed with what I've seen of Paro who fights an unbeaten Turkish Olympian on 8 June. Wale Omotoso back in action on the weekend. Very capable & experienced guy having fought & trained in the US for many years. Would make a great opponent for Junior Tszyu as a development fight.
Nasio and Ene Purcell are doing it again on 13 July in Toowoomba. The last scrap really caused raucous amongst the respective Tongan parochial supporters. The scrap was entertaining too. This one shouldn't disappoint.
* Kostya Tszyu nine of his first 20 fights were in Newcastle. Talks are underway to bring Tim Tszyu to Newcastle for his next fight in August. His manager Novocastrian Glen Jennings who is still close to Kostya is pushing the city as venue with No Limits Matt Rose considering the Newcastle Entertainment Centre . * Former Aust Am LW rep Furkhan Demikaya fighting Shiva Mishra this Sat Timberyard. Jayden Mitchell rates him highly impressed by his speed , angles and footwork on debut. This content is protected * Francis Chua attempts a world record. This content is protected
Omotoso got shut out over 10 rounds on the weekend. The bloke who beat him has a few Emmanuel Augustusesque moves. Dont know how much he does that over a whole fight and how effective he is though.
* Jason Maloney https://www.mjaplatinum.com/news/2019/5/23/15-rounds-with-jason-moloney * 4 x National Champ and Bronze medalist at World Boxing Champ Kristy Harris was the first female to represent Aust in the 2014 Glasgow CMW .After recovering from what could have been a career ending injury , Kristy is now back on track to pursue her Olympic dream for Tokyo 2020. * Skye Nicholson who won a CMW Gold Medal in her hometown Gold Coast now has Olympic dream boosted with the news that Tokyo will host her preferred division of 57 kg next yr . Under the old system Skye would have been forced to compete in a heavier 60 kg division in the hopes of securing an Olympic spot and would have been in direct competition with Sydney's Anja Stridsmen who won gold in that division at Gold Coast. Under sweeping changes women will compete in 5 weight classes at Tokyo rather than 3 at Rio. The men division will be cut from 10 to 8. * Catlin Parker has a long and accomplished Aust career. Beginning boxing at the age of 11 . Catlin has progressed to winning gold , silver and bronze medals at youth , junior and elite levels of boxing under the tutelage of Peter Wilkinson . Catlin was the Aust Team Captain for boxing at the 2018 CMW Games on the Gold Coast and won silver. The ultimate dream is to compete for gold at the Tokyo Olympic's. * Dennis Hogan returning in Oct. * Vic Darchinyan is returning at 126 lbs Olympic Park July 19. * Tim Tszyu to replace George Kambosos Jr as Manny Pacquiao chief sparring partner for fight for with Thurman July 19. Tim flying to Manila Mon. Justin Fortune , Matt Rose, Stu Duncan and Team Tszyu boss Glen Jennings got this done. https://www.philstar.com/sports/2019/06/01/1922707/tim-tszyu-spar-manny-pacquiao
Manny's revenge - preparing Junior Tszyu to face Horndog. Tszyu back in action mid-August in Sydney. Opponent TBA. Hopefully Dwight Ritchie. I'd like to see Vic Darchinyan stay retired. ATG career. Four legit world titles is more than any Australian ever achieved in a professional boxing career. His wins over Irene Pacheco, Cristian Mijares & Jorge Arce were epic.
The so called heavyweight king gets outclassed and destroyed by an obese super middle. WTF. I haven't watched any of Joshua's recent fights so how he he generally looked ?
