while this may be the case, its an inadequacy of AJ as a world scene boxer, that cant be denied.

Perhaps he is just an upset Spurs fan but its up to him to blank it and get on with his job, everyone else does.

You hit the nail on the head. We live in an era of fitness where body-shaming and style over substance is prevalent. Strikes me as almost comical (but also frustrating) how some of us are offended that a boxer without an athletic body won.

Joshua was never gonna KO Ruiz by using just muscles and size, boxing doesn’t work like that at world level.

Combinations, timing, active guard, outstanding ability to parry punches, chin?
Remember you’re the same guy who saw nothing special in Lomachenko. Maybe it’s time to accept you’re not very good at judging boxers/boxing.

Bellew showed that a tubby man can beat a specimen of physical proportions. It happens.

Ruiz should be undefeated. I thought he beat Parker soundly.

And how did he do that? By fighting a guy who’s literally falling apart under his own weight?
    Not the best example.
Now the check-jab story is worth of bringing up.

People have mentioned that after the Klitschko fight Joshua seemed to show a more brittle Chin and fought more cautious.

I don’t know if that is true as the only fight I have seen him in post Klitschko was Povetkin and but he was buzzed in that fight pretty good at one point.

Has nothing to do with not having an athletic body. Plenty of good champs dont have athletic looking physiques. Erik Morales, Vitali Klitschko, Kelly Pavlik, Sergey Kovalev, etc. These guys are among the many who will never win the physique competition. And it doesnt matter.

But I cannot recall a flat out obese man beating the #1 ranked fighter in his prime. It's not that Ruiz is not athletic looking. He is actually an obese man.

If your premise is correct that Ruiz meets the medical definition of obesity doesn't that make his accomplishment that much more remarkable?

Actually it does. Its one of the multiple reasons why everybody was so surprised he won the fight.

Ruiz also has an excellent skill set. Roach warned that although obese he hit very quick.

    So glad for him.
