Yeah it was a good fight to watch. Ruiz has some whiskers on him. After the KD he ate a huge right and then just fired back.
Not a killing as I never really bet big but I put a tenner on him for the win at 7/1, thats enough to get me buzzing lol. Was you one of the people that knew nothing about Ruiz amd wrote him off as a fat slob?? Like I said, there were people here that knew Ruiz was dangerous just most didn't think he would batter Joshua the way he did....still buzzing from the whole night now!! My misses cant believe the fat boy beat him the way he did lmao!
I never wrote him off as a fat slob but I just never expected him to beat AJ at all. Infact I thought Joshua would knock him out inside 6.
Who's next? From Joshua's post fight comments in a few interviews i've heard he wants NONE of Ruiz right now...
Hearn would want the rematch but I doubt McCracken would just yet. I think the latter cares about him but the former sees him for the money pig he is. I think he would beat Ruiz in a rematch but it’s a very risky fight cos if he loses, that is a psychologically and commercially huge blow.
Hearn won't allow anything but the rematch next. He's bloody devastated about losing the belts and losing his dream of having undisputed heavyweight champion on his books and all the cash that goes with it. AJ's lack of enthusiasm for the rematch speaks volumes. Amazing that he'd consider anything else. He hated that fight, it was written all over his face. I'm loving the division being wide open again. Hope there's an immediate rematch next. I couldn't confidently pick a winner. AJ will box conservatively but if Ruiz clips him, it'll be mental again. Suddenly we've AJ/Ruiz rematch and Wilder/Fury rematch to look forward to. Ruiz is now in with the top guys. It's bleedin brilliant for the division.
Whether AJ can be rehabilitated or not by end of year the balance of power has swung to Ruiz’s camp ie Al Haymon how is this for a scenario Ortiz is paid to step aside to allow Ruiz to have unification bout with Wilder in September? Haymon would have all the belts and if AJ does want to be champ again he has to accept the terms ? It’s no secret Haymon smart dude as for rematch clauses didn’t Mike Tyson have one of those when he got beat by Douglas ? Oh and Douglas took a cash out and fought Holyfield.
If Ortiz pulled out the Wilder fight I can see Haymon making the unification very quickly- he’d simply have to pay Joshua stand aside money. Hearn has a major issue now if Whyte loses as well- I can’t see Sky putting up with losing fighters being on PPV long term. There is literally no one else bar perhaps Smith who is even close to PPV in the Matchroom stable. The above said, due to business commitments I suspect the rematch takes in Britain perhaps in a stadium quite soon to sort out this situation once and for all. It would be nice to hold it in Mexico but there isn’t the revenue there to make it happen.
Ruiz is with the top guys. Has he secretly been avoided all this time? He is a quiet guy so maybe he's been the biggest secret in the division. Saying that, could you ever see Ruiz stopping Fury? Just would not happen, Fury is too clever to get into the war Joshua found himself in. Ruiz v Wilder is a good fight but I still think Wilder nails him, he is much quicker to bring the right hand through than AJ is.
