I look very negatively on fighters where one punch changes the entire fight for them. Atleast Frank Bruno rarely got knocked down compared to AJ and did not do antics like spitting out his mouth piece or even taking a knee

    No.

Watch the first 60 seconds of round 1.

Ruiz was tagging him and beating him from the very, very beginning.

Yes, that shot shook him to his boots....knocked off his equilibrium, he was walking around like a bobble headed toddler on Queen Street.

It hurt a lot I'm sure. And it had an impact on the outcome, of course it did.

But what really screwed AJ up was his mentality going into this fight. AJ underestimated Ruiz, and evidence of that was at the weigh-in, at the press conference, in interviews beforehand. He was laughing too much, having too much fun and there was no 'serious' Joshua in the build-up. That to me showed he thought it was going to be an easy night. Even in the staredown he wasn't fully serious, and you could tell. I picked that up at the weigh-in and thought 'Something isn't right'.

For the first time in his career, he was focusing on what was after his upcoming opponent. It was all about Wilder and Fury, and he saw Ruiz as some fat bloke who's in there for the money. I really do believe that was AJ's mentality, he was overlooking Ruiz and that's really what lost him the fight.

Because of that mentality, he thought he could boss Ruiz around and be reckless and he paid for it.

No, I just didn't think he could deal with Ruiz's strength and speed at close range. He went back to fighting on the outside afterwards. Ruiz ambushed him in the 7th, and he just couldn't cope with it.

Well it had all sorts of impacts, transcending the physical one. Once he got knocked down, he knew something was terribly wrong, this is his big US debut against a fighter he was sure to beat, how could he be on the canvas?

He was given time to recover, but his composure had fallen apart by that stage and he was opening himself up for more punishment. Like Eddie said, he would have got up a hundred times, but this wasn;t the issue. He was trying to use brute force to stop Ruiz because he couldnt handle coming out second best in the exchanges... and that caused his demise.

He should have boxed clever after the first two knockdowns.

it was to his right ear drum, there are little crystals in the ear that help a persons balance.

Maybe he was overconfident but i don't know if a fully focused AJ would have made any difference. Ruiz was kyrtonite for AJ and his style for perfect to exploit AJ's flaws.

Lol this is what AJ fans are not acknowledging, AJ was trying to box clever by using the jab, jabbing Ruiz to the head and stomach, moving around, going backwards, trying to tie Ruiz up when he got inside but Ruiz was relentless and had complete confidence he had what it took to take AJ's best punches and to get him out of there in quick fashion without any trouble at all.

A rematch will not change the outcome. Ruiz is just all wrong for AJ, he can try to box cautiously as much as possible but eventually Ruiz will throw the dice and AJ will get hit.

It essentially ended the fight, he did his best bambi impersonation and seemed to have little stamina after the knockdown.
