Booth & AJ would be a match made in heaven. But I don't feel that a new trainer will get more out of AJ. He has hit his capacity when it comes to development/learning.
Most likely out of sheer humiliation and confusion, he was getting put on his back badly in his US debut against the odds. He being beat up in an old fashion gun war. He desperately needed some advice to alleviate his shock and find confidence. Probably Adam Booth, to learn some movement and reduce stiffness... but might be too early to call for a new trainer. Cant switch up at every avenue and loss.
People saying adam booth would be perfect are having a laugh oh you want aj to wak round with his lead hand at his waist won’t help with aj having a fighter throwing combinations at him either. also aj is stiff already could booth loosen him up yes to a point but sometimes you just don’t have the tools to develop it. If he’s going for a new trainer my choice would be shane mcguigan teach him to actually use a stiff jab and will actually develop the tools aj has in his locker.
The most alarming thing to me is sparring g partners for this fight where big stuffs no nimble shkrt guys AND Robert's instructions where soo basic it was like a school boy advice. The above has to be a trainer issue. Also I blame Eddie the amount of media **** he did last week was manic.
I think the corner advice was shocking. All he kept saying was jab 1-2, jab 1-2. He needed to tell him to throw the shots and step out to avoid the return flurry. He also needed to tell him to keep his hands high - which he did a couple of times but not enough. Just a bad day at the office for all involved I think.
Anyone know who he was sparring with for this fight? Presumably because Miller and Ruiz aren't radically different - he used the same guys for both. A few people suggesting he may have struggled in sparring, would be interesting to know who it might be.
Joshua kept them waiting 90 minutes at the press conference. Perhaps McCracken couln't last the full 90 listening to AJ's ar$e-licking cronies in the changing room.
Yes fully agree. How much better can he get? He could definitely use his jab more but the man is so muscle bound his energy saps. Joshua is what he is.
Go to the US and train. Brother Nazeem Richardson or Johnathan Banks will get his head moving and the jab going with authority.
I was listening to an interview or a podcast the other day and apparently a lot of his sparring was done with amateurs apparently because of the style. Not sure how true that was.
Yep I heard Rob say at one point "Jab 1-2 and you'll finish him". So delusional, had they ever seen Ruiz box prior to the fight? He moves his head and has a quality amateur background, no one is finishing Ruiz with such a basic manoeuvre. He should have been working Andy's pie-man Phil Taylor type body. Plain for even a casual observer to see. Mental that Ruiz was the only one jabbing to the body.
I'd say he definitely needs a new coach. McCracken doesn't strike me as a good trainer. He doesn't seem to teach his trainers good technique. Joshua still has many, many flaws. Probably the best trainer for Joshua is Shane McGuigan, at least in the UK. He could also consider an American trainer.
Yeah I noticed that too, could have sworn I heard Rob say whatever you do, don't touch his snickers bar or you are fcuked!! Josh obviously didn't listen!!
