I like AJ and don’t mind him being around but have to admit I like this kid Ruiz and hope he wins the rematch

Hey, I like him too lol. But I wanted to see Wilder-AJ. That's all. I didn't ask for too much.

Thanks fellows. It was a fun read to go through these posts.

I think it possible Joshua will bounce back to have a great career like Louis or Lewis or Wlad.

But it is equally possible his career will follow the Michael Grant scenario.

But after watching this fight, I wonder if they shouldn't change the judging at those Mr. Universe contests. Rather than the ripped muscle Steve Reeves look, they should reward the Ruiz look. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.

Wlad had his own jaw to worry about tho. Not long after rising Ruiz took a massive right hand very very well considering he'd just got up.

I agree totally. Nobody commented on that right he took after getting up during the fight but it was the kind of punch that wins fights.

Absolutely. That right hand could easily have left him down for the 10 count. It was eye opening.

There has been quite a bit of praise for Ruiz's hand speed, but his best asset might indeed be his chin, which appears to be first rate. I was also impressed by the way he took that big right hand. That would have finished most guys but Ruiz just fought back ferociously.

Totally not true lol. If he lost weight he would end up like Arreola, skinny and getting knocked around like a ragdoll.

Freddie, who used to train Ruiz, said, "Let him fight fat, he's better fat. I don't give a **** what anyone says. He is."

I’m not sure if you’re understanding what I said

It’s pretty obvious that a 270lb fighter with ~30% body fat is carrying more muscle mass than a chiseled 200lb fighter at 10% body fat.

This was in response to janitor claiming that fat is just dead weight. I agree with you he would probably be worse off if he were leaner

Ruiz is probably more like 40% body fat to be honest and it's obvious he isn't hiding some Hulking physique under the fat. His arms are actually on the leaner side and he has sagging tits.

I can tell you just from my eyes, he does not have more muscle than a 200 lb 10% Oscar Bonavena.

I was at the fight live and If I didn't know any better I'd think I was in London. Ruiz was booed by the audience as he came out of his dressing room. AJ was given a hero's welcome with street hawkers selling Union Jacks like hotcakes outside of Madison Square Garden, while inside the arena, every image of AJ from big screen was met with cheering applause from a crowd that seemed to adore him.

He fought scared; It seems as though AJ has picked up some sort of psychological issue ever since the Klitschko fight. Surviving that near loss left him with more questions than answers about himself. His last 3 fights he seems more concerned about losing the fight via 1 punch KO more than anything else; he's fighting like he's afraid to get hit. The last thing I want is for AJ to turn into another Jermain Taylor and squander his talent to his own psychological shortcomings.

AJ can recover and if he wins the rematch emphatically and unifies the titles by beating Fury and Wilder (however likely/unlikely) then history will be kind to him. But what matters is what he does now.

What's interesting is that men like Holmes and Ali and Foreman are no longer thought of as too small compared to the supergiants anymore .

Last hope AJ camp career hasn't peaked and his career doesn't end up like Barry McCuigan after his disasterous USA debut against Steve Cruz in Las Vegas. The question is AJ has enough money but does he still have the hunger ?
