I was absolutely ecstatic, literally jumping around the room when Ruiz won.

It's not that I have a particular dislike for Anthony, it's just that I always knew he was overhyped.

Now there's rumours circulating every which way.

Many people are rubbishing them, stating that it's a taste of sour grapes etc from his fans. However, after watching the fight back again numerous times, there was definitely some odd things that occurred, such as:

    1. He kept playing around with his gum shield, slipping it in and out of his mouth.

    2. He had a long neck massage in the ring, before the fight.

    3. He kept second guessing himself between rounds, where he also asked bizarre questions, such as: "Why am I feeling like this?"

Again, I'm not a fan of his. But I'm sure something was amiss, even before the bell rang. I don't know if it was nervous tension, but something was odd.

Also, do we know yet why his father was so angry with Hearn?

Then either AJ is mentally weak or Ruiz causes nightmares.

For the record... if it came out that nothing was wrong with him and this rumor is just a case of people creating something out of false signs and false rumors, it wouldnt suprise me. I knew Ruiz was a bad matchup for AJ before the fight and what transpired in the ring was a real possibility to me.

Im not looking to sign excuses to AJs loss. I would actually prefer if the truth is that there was nothing wrong with him.

In fact I dismissed all of it until the combination of seeing AJ having to calm his Dad down in the ring as he was having a go at Hearn, and reports from boxing insiders saying AJ didnt want to fight. Then I went and watched the introductions... and it seems pretty obvious to me that something was up with AJ there.

Just look at AJ when they begin to announce his name.. the guy looks out of it.

I genuinely hope this is a lot of nothingness... but imo something was up.

Watch his intro from Povetkin, from Wlad... and then go watch his Ruiz one.

I find it hard to believe anyone truly unbiased cant tell something was up with AJ.

    Its night and day.

My thing is... I know mental health is complicated and doesnt necessarily work like this but, outside of this being in America, this was fairly routine for AJ. If anything, it was a downgrade.

He constantly performs in front of larger audiences, brighter lights, and against percieved more dangerous opponents.

Why would the guy that coolely comes out to a packed wembley and name in flames to face Wladimir, be having panic attacks before this?

Like I said, I know mental health doesn't work like that though. But it still has me thinking this has more to do with him recently being KOd in sparring than panic attacks.

They’re not uncommon and not untreatable. He’ll be fine if that’s true. Travelling overseas and the time zone, the uncertainty about future fights is probably the main causal factor.

You change your circadian rhythm and it will cause anyone to be anxious.

Weed makes things worse for most people with anxiety/panic attacks. For someone a bit stressed and anxious who tolerates weed it’s helpful.

    Probably both,
Which means that even in a rematch Ruiz will KO him again

Ruiz causes nightmares. When I boxed and someone didn’t look physically imposing I would be shocked when they could actually fight. Imagine how strong that effect would be for a physical monster like Joshua coming up against a short, obese man like Ruiz. Ruiz’ speed and explosiveness, timing and chin are elite and unexpected since he doesn’t look athletic at all. Ruiz is a very good athlete, he’s like one of those fat dudes in the NFL.

Its funny how people are making all these excuses for AJ. Has anyone ever contemplated what kind of mental pressure Mike Tyson would have been under in the 80's and 90's? He had way more expectations, pressures, mouths to feed, adulation, paparazzi that AJ can even imagine.

He got a Ruiz attack in the ring, that's why he lost.

Loving your use of English by the way, takes me back to the golden age of the internet when I was 15 years old chatting with 14 year old girls on MSN Messenger.

As I have said elsewhere, his dad’s behavior in the ring just underscores what a beta AJ is — imagine a grown man’s father coming to his workplace and yelling at the boss in front of everyone.
