Yes Ruiz is fat. We should embrace it, it's part of his brand

I don't think anybody is saying that he's healthy as far heart and organs and stuff like that. Clearly, he's at risk to die young if he does not lose weight.

But the fact is that yes, he is obese. He owns it.

Andy has recently stated that he feels unbeatable at 245. This is an acknowledgement of being too heavy. If he has an ounce of pride he only has to look in the mirror to realize something needs to be done.

The only problem with your analogy is, Andy Ruiz Jr is not Tyson Fury or Buster Douglas. So everything you stated about them, is totally irrelevant here.

Furthermore, I've already stated what criteria I use to judge the work ethic, professionalism and discipline of a fighter. I don't ignore them. I merely have different standards for what constitutes them. It's you who either has a problem with my standards, or are totally incapable of comprehending them and that really isn't my problem.

Difference between me and you is, I judge fighters based on how they perform in the ring. Whilst you judge fighters based on how they look. You call them lazy, undisciplined and unprofessional because they don't fit a Hollywood expectation of what constitutes an appropriate physique. Me on the other hand, I consider Ruiz very disciplined, very hard-working and very professional for never losing a fight from gassing and being able to out-last the bodybuilder Anthony Joshua.

Since Andy Ruiz Jr has never lost a single fight due to bad stamina or from gassing, I literally have no reason to call him 'lazy' as a fighter. Since Andy Ruiz Jr has won every fight until date (yes, he got robbed against Parker), I've got no reason to call him 'lazy', 'undisciplined' and 'unprofessional'.

It's Anthony Joshua, who not only once, but at least 3 times in his career out of 22 fights, has gassed out. So therefore, it's him who deserves to be called 'unprofessional', undisciplined' and 'lazy' if anybody does deserve to be called by those labels. Joshua gassed against Wladimir Klitschko, and against Takam and now against Andy Ruiz Jr. Such a thing never happened to Andy Ruiz Jr, as in EVER.

So you should be lamenting that blame upon Anthony Joshua, based on ACTUAL FACTUAL EVIDENCE! None of those labels you've associated to Andy Ruiz Jr, can be substantiated with any shred of evidence (other than OH BUT HE LOOKS FAT DOE OR HE DOESN'T HAVE A HOLLYWOOD / BEACH BODY PHYSIQUE DOE DOE DOE). How someones looks is frankly totally irrelevant in a fight. If the fighter has the most appealing body, but is lazy to the absolute max in the actual ring whilst fighting, then that fighter's laziness, lack of discipline and unprofessionalism has to be called out on. It's really that simple! Physical appearance has nothing to do with heavyweight boxing. The quicker people like you get that through to your brains, the better it'd be.

"If it ain't broken why mend it," Ruiz being a fat boy has done good so far, i cannot imagine he is going to want to change anytime soon.

Yea he would be healthier if he wasn’t fat but then he wouldn’t be the heavyweight champion of the world so swings and roundabouts basically.

His body fat might hurt him in the late rounds of a fight.

Do you understand how dumb you sound calling him "morbidly obese"? First of all Morbid obesity interferes with basic physical functions such as breathing or walking and Ruiz obviously has no trouble with either. For someone to be considered morbidly obese they have to be at least 100lbs over their ideal size for their height with a BMI of 40 and experiencing high blood pressure or diabetes related to it. None of this describes Ruiz. The dude is a bit fat and flabby but make no mistake hes in better shape than you are im sure of it. If he isnt im pretty sure he can still beat the living shizz out of you.

People act like every hw champion ever was built like AJ. More muscle just means you need a lot more oxygen to keep all that muscle moving and lungs aren't built for that amount of muscle. Look at the UFC, who's the HW champ? A pudgy 5`10 guy who has ko`d 6`4 260lb freaks his whole career. Who is considered the greatest HW mma fighter of all time? Fedor Emilianenko. Sure he wasn't fat but he was farrr from ripped and was barely 6 feet. People have been watching too many superhero movies.

I've stocked up on Baskin Robbins and frequented the pizza place several times since the fight.

No one is asking him to look like AJ

But getting down to 245 would probably HELP his speed, not hurt it

I'm apparently not above pointing out the irony that Andy Ruiz is now #13 pound-for-pound on Boxrec hahaha

According to doctors there is no such thing as healthy obese. Ruiz is not morbidly obese, but he is obese.

That is flat out unhealthy. NFL lineman have to be obese to compete. Which is why they usually die around 50 years old.

Some people fail to see the point. No one ever said it was impossible for a fat fighter to be decent or even good. But it takes more than talent and skills to be great at sports. How many ATGs are fat? Ruiz is not just fat, he's obese. You know that someone like that is not dedicated to the sport just by looking at him.

Ruiz will keep whatever skills he has because sparring and hitting the bag and all those other boxing activities are fun. So lazy guys like him enjoy them. But the road work, the hard cardio, the diet, no one really finds that fun. But that's what it takes to be in shape.

He's doing himself a disservice. Whenever he loses, especially close fights. There will always be a question in his head, whether he likes to admit it or not, what if I actually came in shape? Would I have won? He'd be faster of hands, of feet, have more stamina, etc. It'd be easier to move avoid punches.

Unless he's the least self aware person in history, I'm sure he's asking himself if it wouldn't have helped him against Parker to come in shape.

Also, there's a big difference between a guy like Ortiz, who isn't shredded but looks in decent enough shape, and a blob that doesn't give a **** like Ruiz.

They don't die from obesity its usually related to brain degeneration and steroid related issues. Come on man.
