Sanders came flying out of the traps and battered Wlad in a couple of rounds. - On a separate note, early odds are 3/10 for AJ and 5/2 for Ruiz. Bookies confident it was a blip. Not necessarily my opinion of how the fight will go, but a lot of people are citing that Ruiz will have the full camp to focus on Joshua now. It needs to be remembered that Joshua will be solely focussed on Ruiz too, with no opponent change and no other distractions.
The point he is making, and what also concerns me is that we don’t know, how much detail is in the clause though. Hopefully, Eddie has nailed it down to specifics, like locations/sanctioning body approvals etc. We’ve seen problems with these in the past, Like when Lewis lost to Rahman (or McCall I cant remember which one) and he had to fight him in court to force his rematch as Don King was trying to block it, as he was trying to get Tyson the shot.

It will be 100 percent nailed down... Eddie was laughing at Haye for having no rematch clause with Bellew, and AJ is their cash cow. The only issue I can see, is that Joshua doesn't massively up for a rematch to me, he knows he is finished if Ruiz ko him again.
Ruiz seems to want the rematch in Mexico according to Sky. Maybe they do have the rematch clause in but not the details which perhaps could be stipulated by Ruiz’s team.
The fight will happen. Ruiz will know it will be hard to hold onto these titles for long. Joshua rematch will offer easily the biggest pay day of the 3 top HW and if he beats him again - and he has every chance - he sets up a huge unification bout and another huge pay day. If he goes and fights a Wilder or Fury, almost certainly for less money than a Joshua rematch, he will find himself as a fighter that offers high risk/low reward and it might take him 2-3yrs to get back in a position to challenge. Look at Dillian Whyte as a great example - he has been knocking the door of the top guys on merit for a couple of years now, but nobody wants to go near him as he doesn't bring enough money to be worth the risk. As for who wins, it depends on Joshua. If he fights the smart fight, shows up focused and in condition, he should win - but Ruiz is dangerous and could easily derail him yet again. Joshua is at a crossroads now. The defeat might be the best thing for him - he could go Klitschko, and learn, make the needed changes and improve/adapt to your strengths and weaknesses. Or... he could go full David Price now his invincibility has gone. Interesting times.

Apparently next in the rotation is the WBO mandatory, and Eddie has already spoken to president Paco Valcárcel and has got the ok that the rematch is fine. At least it keeps the belts together!
Sanctioning bodies will be more than happy to let AJ have immediate rematch for all the belts he lost. He generates too much money for them in comparison to Ruiz or any other heavy for that matter. It was also a voluntary defence. Al Haymon will have no say. Eddie already stated he puts a rematch clause in all voluntary world title defences. This is also the reason why Whyte didn't take the Joshua fight in April. He said in the contract it stated that if he won Aj would get a immediate rematch and still get 60% of the purse even after Whyte became champion. Whyte said he should be getting majority of purse in a rematch if he won. This is where talks broke down.
I think AJ will be mentally shot. He changed everything about his game after Klitschko only dropped him, imagine what this will do to him. If i was him, forget being cautious, go back to being that guy who from round 1 takes your head off, because whatever his frailties, he can take anyone in the division out if he does that
You think if he tried that against Ruiz Jr he really would have got a result ? It leaves him wide open if he does that.
