Would you pick anyone below 180 lbs over Fitzsimmons?

    Probably plenty.
However with the proviso that any of them if they got too careless could be knocked out at any time.

I see that Bob is not rated that high here.

Fitz dealt with Corbett (bigger, stronger and faster boxer than most you mentioned) jab and movement. He destroyed every swarmer he faced, many of them were bigger than him. He destroyed Ruhlin, huge guy with decent jab. Not to mention that he did terrible things to anybody of any size when he connected (other than Jeffries, but I don't expect any of guys you mentioned to have James durability).

Maybe he wouldn't beat all of them but some of your mentions are strange to be honest.

You honestly think Kovalev would have a hope against one of the heaviest body punchers ever?

Duran's pressure? Fitz was destroying way larger fighters, Duran trying to pressure Fitz will just have him getting quickly KOed.

You can't slugg with Fitz if you are smaller than him.

BTW, would you call Bob a slugger? He looks like this in footage (very limited) we have

I guess, though a very unorthadox one. I think he's much more skilled than often given credit for.

It's a shame we don't have more of the later Corbett Fitzsimmons fight when Fitz was winning, or even the Fitz Lang fight early on when he was competitive.

Yeah, I'd love to see more of him, even only from these fights.

Which styles do you think gave him the most troubles? Quick slick boxers like Corbett?

Maybe because we have actual fight footage of Bob! Not an awful lot, and not in the best of quality - but enough to get an idea of how he looked in the ring.

I think a tall, durable southpaw like Henry Maske would have given him all kinds of trouble.

So we have a footage of him fighting against bigger, quicker and stronger elusive Corbett in a finish fight and he knocked him out with body punches. Isn't it impressive?

You have to remember, in a finish fight you don't play for refs and fans. You do everything to knock out your opponent and Fitz methodically broke Corbett.
