Patterson beats Ellis, then goes after Frazier in 1970 unification .

This is the real, prime Smoking Joe who is his opponent.

Does Floyd have a shot to win this Big Fight.

No Paterson doesn't have a chance. Frazier in 1970 would steamroll prime Patterson, and he would wreck him even earlier in 1970 when Patterson was past prime.

Damn haven’t seen this matchup and it well could have happened. Interesting style matchup don’t think Patterson’s chin holds

I've wondered about this matchup myself .If Floyd had gotten past Ellis he'd have being confident I believe going in , the older Patterson seemed more at ease with him self .
But as for his actual chances ,I'm afraid I don't see him getting past the third with Frazier . He'd maybe win the first couple of round s but Joe's hook ends the game , Patterson would keep trying to climb on up but when Smoke's got you hurt then it takes a lot to survive .

Poor Floyd, excellent fighter that he was. Joe would have been way too much for him; but Joe was usually more of a slow starter than Liston and Johannsen. Floyd makes it about as far as Ellis did in Joe's first fight with the latter. The hook would have devastated Patterson, demolition time.

It would have been too much for Floyd, at his age, but he wouldn't be face down in a puddle that's for sure!!!
    Rising and stopped.

Floyd was a late bloomer and may have been at his best 1968-1970. That said, Joe would be too much for him.

Frazier is a bigger stronger Patterson with a better hook, defence, and chin.

    Frazier son's him 3 rounds.
