The flag that his team was flying behind him during his ring intro was a Mexican flag and the United States Flag combined. You could see the stars and stripes through it.

He clearly, overwhelmingly favors Mexico. He was raised in Mexico and and only mentions Mexico. You're grasping at straws.

Mexico won this. Ruiz is Mexico's champion. Not the US's. Good for them and respect to Mexico.

Why is it annoying to say he's American ? That's what he is. All this he's really Mexican is BS. He was born in America, he lives in America, he represents America. Obviously he represents Mexico as well due to his heritage which he should be proud of, but at the end of the day he's American. Why would stating what he is get people pissed ? He's Mexican-American, not Mexican. He's not the first ever Mexican Heavyweight Champ. Was Joshua the first ever Nigerian Unified HW Champ ? Did he identify himself as such ? No he identified himself as British, which is what he is.

He's Mexico's Champion ? Wrong. He's America's Champion. He is not a citizen of Mexico.

Is Golovkin American because he lives in LA now? No.

And Ruiz has dual citizenship and was raised in Mexico and represented Mexico in the Olympics. He's not American. He's Mexico's first heavyweight champion.

50-50. Wilder has never faced a fighter with Ruiz attributes before but he has knocked down everyone he has been in the ring with

That's completely different and you know it. GGG was born in Kazakhstan. He is a citizen of Kazakhstan. There's a Kazak flag next to his name.

Kovalev, he was born in Russia. Next to his name there's a Russian flag, even though he lives in the US now.

Lomachenko, born in Ukraine, lives in US, Ukrainian flag next to his name.

There's clearly exceptions when it comes to Mexican Americans, they can compete for Mexico in the Olympics if they want. But still at the end of the day he's American, and other fighters born from other country clearly do not have the kind of pride in another country different from the country they actually are from than Mexican Americans do.

You're ****ing ******ed. Ruiz could not push Mexico any harder. His passport means absolutely nothing compared to his entire youth, blood, and culture being Mexican.

Wider is a moron I would rather Support Blizzy tbh...

Ruiz seems a likeable guy and has a good boxing brain - skills etc. I'm still not 100% sold on his power if a glass jaw fraud like AJ could continue to get up which I still think is going to hurt him eventually...

He also has a better resume than Wilder and has stepped up on short notice also is not scared to go to someone elses back yard.

Both did fail narrowly taking their first loss when stepping up in class.

How could you not support him over Wilder..

Your passport means nothing? really ? So if you grew up in Seattle could you call yourself Canadian because Seattle is so close to Canada? Could you fight for Canada in the Olympics because you grew in a city like Seattle near the Canada border?

But it is that precisely, and I encourage you to generate responses that further the discussion rather than detract from it.
