In a big Roy Jones jr. Fan however I had a question. When did he start using peds ?? I highly suspect he was on peds at the heavyweight division But what about when he was at 160? When do you think he started using and would he of been able to move up and dominate naturally ? Was he dirty when he fought toney ?? Let me know your thoughts
PEDS help you bulk up because you recover faster while training so can train quicker meaning you camn lift tons of weight, I feel Jones may have only took PEDS so that he could bulk up to fight at heavyweight.
Probably much earlier than when he went up to heavyweight. Jones as opposed to many other super star boxers of his era, often fought in states and counties that were very behind the times for ped testing. It was a major red flag that was ignored by the media of the time because he was a star and money maker. Go to boxrec and look at the locations where Jones fought. I guarantee many of them were not up to any type of rigorous testing. To know the exact date he began is impossible but he was a juicer for large portion of his career and before he jumped to HW.
Way earlier than his HW jump. Dude was a product of the era, which was a nice cross section of lack of testing, weak testing when it was available, and supply of PED's that worked. It's no surprise many of his contemporaries either tested hot once even rudimentary testing measures got put in place or got implicated in other ways. Given that he was already a freak athlete, they just put him that much more over the top
Funny how Roid Jr's peds cheating has largely been forgotten about. Jesus he lost 9 times whilst being a ped cheat!
Jones is a convicted PED cheat. He also was brutally KOed on three separate Continents. Jones had a very cautious and carefully crafted career. He had a lot of hometown fights against civil servants. Jones wasn’t a prizefighter he was a businessman. And a very bad one at that since he is essentially broke.
Who knows for sure. He was caught once but so was the opponent. Which does leave us with question marks. Think it does roy a bit of a diservice tho tbh. Drugs or no drugs roy was unbelievable at his best... Guy was so good he hardly needed to try at times. Thats the problem roy faces today when hes being rated....you rarely get a truthful answer because people sometimes become resentful when it comes to easy to guys. Tyson gets it. Ali gets it and roy gets it nowadays. All three at one point we,re all a good head and shoulders above the opposition. People spend ages waiting for them to fail....and when they do they try to rewrite history saying they we,re never that great. All three we,re that great. Tyson failed cause his life unravelled. Ali failed because of the lay off...father time and roy failed cause of the weight loss. Drugs dont allow you to do the kind of things roy could do in a boxing ring at his best. As they say extraordinary measures allow you to do extraordinary things...reckon roy was the product of his dads mistreatment growing up tbh....it made him the fighter he was more so than any peds.
Anderson Silva got it too. When you look too good in comparison to your opponents people start questioning the level of opposition, whereas if you have a harder time or it's more competitive the assumption is that the competition is more stacked.
Not forgotten--ignored. Everyone knows, everyone remembers, and no one talks about it. Same with Holyfield, Tommy Morrison, and a handful of others. I try to judge each according to the evidence. Jones has some kind of test where his testosterone levels were off the charts of what was humanly possible, so, in my book, all of his accomplishments are null and void. He just wasn't that good, or else he would not have needed that kind of supplementation.
Roy got on PEDs when he got to lhw and there after its ass No. He tested clean. Roy got on PEDs when he got to lhw and there after its assumed he was dirty. At 160/154 theres no reason to believe he was on anything.
