In fairness, he’s took the defeat like a man; not his behind anything; dismissed rumours surrounding his performance; credited Ruiz as a worthy winner.

He probably is relieved. I mean he’s been under huge pressure since he won the Olympic gold. The worst thing that could have happened to him is becoming world champion after 15 fights.

He got hurt and didn't get let off the hook this time that's all. Hope Ruiz Jr makes a fortune from the rematch.

Goes to show he didn't give a f*** what AJ was getting paid. Just thought about himself and had a monstrous pay off the back of it. Happy for him

I just watched the whole fight again and despite any denials, there is little doubt that Joshua went into that ring with something seriously wrong with him.

Focus on the ringwalk, his demeanour when introduced, his glazed look pre fight, the people around Joshua, the gumshield antics and the constant back of the neck massaging, particularly by McCracken. All before the first bell.

Whether this was illness, failure to recover from heavy knockdown in sparring, neck injury or even possible jaw injury - he certainly did not want to be in the ring on Sat and it really is shocking that this fight went ahead.

Not the biggest fan of Tony Dosh but it does look like he was coerced into proceeding with this fight.

We have not even scratched the surface on this one yet and surely the truth will emerge soon.

Hearn needs to pull up in a Food or Ice Cream truck to Ruiz's house and the fight will be signed in seconds.

I’ve watched it loads now, but just watched the video they’ve put up on Sky Sports Boxing on YouTube. I thought it was strange at the time that there was no extravagant entrance like in the previous few fights. Did he not want all the fuss?
The body language to me beforehand looked like really bad anxiety and him trying to manage it and keep a lid on it. His team massaging his neck adds to this. After the fight just looked like a major relief. Like when you’re scared of flying and you’re cacking it all way through but when the plane lands you’re suddenly all smiles (i’m like this) cos you know it’s all over.

If it is anxiety, that’s going to take some dealing with.

Re: the entrance the reason it was short and not extravagant is because it was MSG mate; simply down to being in a small arena and not a stadium. They still had that burning AJ sign in flames. Definitely think it did disrupt his flow though.

I just can't believe he would be anxious. He's boxed better fighters who hit considerably harder in stadiums before.

We might have to wait 10-15 years until the truth comes out.

He was jovial at the open workout Wednesday in front of big crowds. The last press conference on Thursday in front of big crowds. The Friday weigh-in in front of big crowds.

Unless he went out drinking Friday night after the weigh-in and someone in a Miami bar leveled him, which I'm sure there would've been cell phone footage of, I'm not buying the concussed stories.

He got beat. And like others have said, he looked relieved when it was over. There's even footage of him leaving the ring and a physician on the way back to his dressing room asking him if he's got a headache or if he feels like throwing up, and Joshua just smiles and says no no. I'm fine.

First time fighting away from his home turf, and he couldn't go seven.

My favorite reaction is Usyk's at the 17:05 mark.

The Usyk reaction is a good one...”there goes my pay day”.

Ah, that explains the underwhelming entrance.

Regarding anxiety, even normally very confident high functioning people can be hit with anxiety and it’s not necessarily related to the size of the task ahead of them...there’s so many possible factors. I stand on stage for a living and tell jokes, I don’t get anxious about it at all. However, If you told me that this one gig meant that i would open loads of potential doors, then I would naturally not be able to perform to the standard I normally do. I’d pile pressure on myself over something I can do easily. Rush things, trip over words etc etc. I’m not saying he was anxious about the threat the Mexican pudding posed, but rather probably thinking ‘I need to knock this lad out in the first 3 rounds’...that thought process alone would make him rush his work and not do things the same way that’s previous brought him success.

This is just an example. It could have been anything, but he definitely looked anxious to me.
