Evander Holyfield calling out Riddick Bowe to his face for not fighting Lewis

I'm pretty sure it has since it hurts Bowe's legacy to this day.

Outside of Britain who would want to see Holyfield fight Bruno?

 

To me that fight would have been a foregone conclusion: watch just to see what round EH kayos him.

Never thought much of Bruno, no offense to fans meant.

 

I think Bruno might be a stiffer test than people think. That said, I favour Holy too.

 

Oh don't get me wrong, Frank was no joke when it came to punching. I've seen him look really good before, more than a few times.

 

No, he fought until 49 because despite earning hundreds of millions of dollars, he couldn't manage his money and went broke

 

At their all time best Bowe was better than Lewis and Holy.
Bowe was awesome.

 

I think Bowe was the best heavyweight fighter of the 90s, and if he'd stuck around and tightened up his power punches might have been that decade's George Foreman (I mean Frazier-era Foreman).

In fact, Bowe's lack of finesse reminds me in a lot of ways of pre-Frazier Foreman (check out George's pre-champ fights and you'll see the unrefined looseness of his style then). George didn't fight dissimilarly then to Riddick imo which means he looked unpolished and kind of reaching for a style. To me the Bowe who beat Holyfield was like that. He fought great, with heart on tap, but also like he hadn't gotten his discipline/power-punching style down. Had he reached that Foreman vs. Frazier/Norton level of efficacy then no one would have touched him. He would have become more feared than Mike ever was.

And btw I think even a Bowe with twenty fights would have wrecked the early 90s Tyson. Just my opinion.

 

It just would've made Holyfield have a confused look for about a second and then he would have said "Hey...I never ducked Bruno" and then Bowe could've said "Yes you did! I was there when you said 'I'll retire before I ever get in the ring with that killer'"

 

Yeah, Holyfield took unified belts very seriously.

 

I always wondered whom started what. Was Bowe being instigative of these ghetto nonsense incidents, was it part of his persona? Or did Newman bring that.

Either way, I think Bowe overall was a damn shame and I get a little angry when I think of how irreplaceable he would have been had he had both the proper guidance and willingness to absorb and apply such.

People like me, who are really appreciative of Riddick's ability during his heyday, can't help but see what probably would have been a Tyson kayo by (I don't think Mike would have made it more than five rounds, and I happen to be a fan of Mike), Lewis out of there in two...even perhaps a Foreman slugfest to shame the one against Lyle (shoot, I would have paid top dollar to see that...almost father and son).

Tyson had the skills to become the greatest heavyweight of all time, Bowe was never even near that level, Tyson was far harder to hit.

 

In what way?

 

Holy would have toyed with Frank, Bruno never dealt with a counter puncher like Holy before, Tyson didn`t counter much v Frank, nor did Witherspoon or Lewis.

 

When the hell did Holy duck Bruno? Why would he duck Frank? Lewis and Bowe were far better than Frank, Bruno was never No.1 contender while Holy was champ and you can`t say Holy ducked Bruno idf he fought Moorer and Mercer, I don`t get the logic.
