Very bad for the amateur sport in Ireland Joe has been on maximum funding from the Olympic council of Ireland for the last 3 years.High performance unit will have to explain where 180k went and no Joe in the Olympics.
He will go far if guided correctly.

But what about his lack of discipline?

I can't see him succeeding with his work ethic.

Joe Ward was a AM rival of Conor Wallace. There is a lot of pressure in the States
and maybe he will have home sickness. Aust would have been a better option as
the reason Irish fighters have succeeded in Aust was there work ethnic and you
will not fine more better conditioned fighters than Hogan and TJ Doheny.
Two all Irish fights i would like to see is Hogan when he wins the world title
fighting Spike O ' Sullvain and Wallace making a title defense against Ward
when he wins a world title.

Yep, it's the old story. So much talent, so little discipline. We' don't need to give examples. Seen it over and over from traveller boxers in Ireland and Britain. They all collapse in the pro game. Literally every single one.

Joe Wards work ethic won him 3 European Titles and World Silver and Bronze which would have been gold bar coming up against one of the best amatuer boxers of all time.

He is in serious shape at the moment and have no doubt he will go with a top trainer. Dont worry about his worl ethic.

It's more than just that though. There's the loneliness, the isolated lifestyle. Remember Darren Sutherland? John Joe Nevin? In the am high performance setup lads have everything done for them. Spoon-fed. Where to go, when to go there, what to eat, what time to go to bed etc. As someone very cleverly once said it's a bit like the difference between school and college. Very very easy to fall by the wayside. Even if none of the above affect him, there is still no guarantee of success. It's a long shot at best. Wish him all the best though.

Katie's not having much luck with government_supporting politicians, is she? First Shane Ross and now this idiot. Grrr!
Shut up Kenny. You've been milking your "controversial loss" for years. The Chinese lad bested you fair and square. Can't believe he's now a fine Gael councillor ffs! Fine Gael! What a Muppet! (Could someone please buy Kenny a drink so we don't have to listen to him?)....

I agree about his Olympic final I thought he was beat fair and square. The truth was he froze for the first round and a half.
I'm glad he's not drinking anymore but prob should keep his opinion to himself about another boxer retiring.
