If Wilder travelled to the UK to defend against Whyte would you consider that he took a risk?
If so do you not think Joshua took a risk in travelling to the USA to fight Ruiz?

Joshua took a chance that some champions never take.

How really different would the above be in terms of risk?

He wouldn't he would want the crown jewels for such a risk
You seen him scurry home mid flight to Russia got as far as London £50 mill just weren't enough
Serious forty fights with two serious opponents guys a joke
I mean look at what Whyte is having to walk through for a title shot
Compare that to furys Joshua or Wilders
    It's a fhooking joke

Miller and Ruiz weren’t considered risks

It was a risk and props for that but I'm not sure he had any choice. Remember AJ booked Wembley for April (it was his company that booked the venue and not Matchroom, I believe) but couldn't get anything signed and, more importantly, Hearn wanted his position at DAZN solidified by offering up his prized asset as leverage for the service as it tries to establish in the US. And Miller, then Ruiz, were not seen as genuine threats, and certainly not as risky as it would be for Wilder to fight Whyte in the UK.

I do wonder if it was Hearn that road--blocked the Wembley plans and always intended AJ's next fight to be in America....

    Of course they were
They were home country fighters getting a shot at a travelling champion
    Miller was undefeated
    Ruiz had a disputed loss

So either way do you think it would have been any more/less of a risk for Wilder to travel to the UK to defend against Whyte, which was the question

Why not as risky as for Wilder to fight Whyte?
Miller was undefeated and Ruiz could be argued to be at a similar level

Is it because you hold one in greater esteem rather than all things equal?
That is a question and not a sarcastic comment (in case you read it wrong and felt offended)

Because I think Whyte, right now, is seen as a bigger threat than Miller or Ruiz based on what people thought before AJ fought the latter. As it turns out we were all sleeping on Ruiz but the point remains: AJ and Hearn wanted a routine win on his US debut. I don't think Whyte is a routine win for anyone at the moment and certainly not the type of opponent you would choose for a showcase fight in another country. So if in some alternate universe, Wilder signed to fight Whyte that would be a genuine risk. I don't think Matchroom/AJ/Hearn/DAZN saw any risk in his coming to America debut opponent. Hearn messed up because he put his needs ahead of those of his fighter....

Ruiz and Parker fought a disputed fight
Parker coming off a loss fought a disputed fight with Whyte
Also Whyte has been hurt and wobbled few times

Level wise seems similar which is why I think it is quite a similar level
Also remember Joshua had 3 titles on the line to 1

Nothing to do with Povetkin failed drug tests.

    Guess AJ ducked Miller too.

Well with the benefit of hindsight, you are right. But for sure, Hearn led his fighter into this bout with a near zero expectation of him being beaten. It was meant to be his showreal KO debut win in the US. They made this fight with the minimum of risk expected. Hearn messed up more than AJ did in the fight itself....

Well he took a massive gamble coming to the U.K. to fight a former Olympic gold medalist, WBF champ and European champ after all!
